Last fall my wife decided to buy a RV to do short trips, enjoy the grandkids, and decide if want to get a bigger one later. One condition was no new cars. So the 04 v-6 4runner is the tow vehicle. We decided on the North Trail FX 18 because of the weight, slide out, insullation, and underpinning. The trailer weighs 3925. The dealer gave us an electric awning. Nice feature.
A couple of issues when the unit arrived. The CD player did not work and the bathroom faucet leaked when the shower was on. Heartland and dealer fixed both quickly.
We have gone on a couple of trips. Dallas, TX to Shreveport, LA, pretty much rolling hills of east Texas. At first I tried driving in overdrive. That didn't work well and now use 3rd gear. I am able to easily maintain a 60 - 65 speed. Gas mileage suffers quite a bit. Normally, I get about 18 - 19 mpg. With the trailer I get about 9 - 10 mpg.
Upcoming trip to Sea World in San Antonio in late April with two grandkids.
