    2006 Landmark Monticello

If you own one, what has been your experience with this coach? Since this was fairly early in Heartland's history, were there any teething problems with this coach?

    F350 or F450?

After nearly two years of enjoying our Foretravel MH we're seeing that a 5'er might suit us better. The Foretravel was the right coach at that time, but our activities have changed, with us staying in one spot for longer periods of time. This evening I found a 2006 Landmark Monticello that...

    Any known issues?

Some of you may recognize my user name as one that was pretty common here a couple of years ago. Two years we bought our Foretravel MH because it was the best fit for us at that time. Things change, and we're thinking that maybe a towable might be a better choice for us. What are the known...

    Any known issues?

Some of you will recognize my user name as one that was pretty common a few years ago. Two years ago we bought a Foretravel motor home as our full-time coach because that was the best choice for us at that time. Things change, and we're now considering a towable coach as our next coach, so...

    ATF: MPG - Axle upgrade?

A friend of mine is looking for an mpg 181, and mentioned that the axles seem to be a trouble spot, and that there is an axle upgrade available. I've never heard of that. What's the real story?

    Insurance question

I made arrangements to take our mpg 181 to our dealer for annual service, winterizing, and then leave it for consignment. I've heard that insurance won't cover it when on consignment, so we called the agent. At least for us that is true. Our agent said that the camper has to be in our custody...

    If you're looking to buy...

Just a reminder that there is a "for sale" section on the Heartland Owners main page. Log in there just as you do here, and scroll down a bit. This is a fairly new feature, so there isn't a lot there, but as people find out about it more items are posted.

    Rain?

We just got back from our vacation, and our 181 is parked in front of the house, still hooked up to the Mercury. The trailer isn't completely level. We had a nice hard rain this morning (well needed, too), and when Jo Ann went into the camper to get more stuff out she found that the floor was...

    What is it?

Today I spotted (and followed for a bit) a travel trailer that said Heartland across the front and back. In case the owner is on this forum, it was southbound on US 65, when it turned west on US 54, and then south in Hermitage. I assume it was headed for Pomme de Terre Lake. On the way home I...

    181 bed

We've had our 181 for almost a year now, and the only thing I don't like is the bed. After our first trip in it, we put a full-size foam mattress topper on top of the original mattress and that made the bed at least reasonably comfortable. Putting sheets and blankets on it, though, is a royal...

    Pickup + mpg + boat = unsafe???

I saw a pickup towing an mpg today, the first time I've seen one on the road. What caught my attention, though, was the small fishing boat being towed by the mpg. There has been some discussion about how much weight the built-in bumper hitch can take in regard to the intended purpose of...

    FT rig ideas needed

For those of you who are full-timers, what would you consider the idea Heartland rig? Yes, I know that the actual choice will be up to DW and me, but at this point we're looking for ideas to consider. We know that Heartland rates only the Landmark, Bighorn and Big Country as full time rigs, and...

    Found them!

I finally found the bypass valves on my 181. 1. Prop up the mattress. 2. Remove two screws on the far left piece of plywood. 3. Raise plywood. 4. Hot water valve is right in front of you. The cold water valve is directly below it. Small hands are recommended for the cold water valve.

    mpg improvement

How about an owner's manual that is just for the mpg? I'm talking about a 3-ring binder with sections for the various systems. The first thing in each section would be an overview of how the system works. Next would be detailed instructions on how to operate that system. Finally, the paperwork...

    Hot water heater

Now that June has arrived, the weather has finally decided it is summer. Tonight we hooked up the hose and flushed out the water lines, or at least that's what we think we did. At any rate, we're able to get water from both hot and cold faucets using either the fresh water tank and pump or the...

    I saw a CY 370C today!

As I was headed into Springfield, MO, this morning, I saw a new Cyclone with the Titanium nose, so on the way home I stopped in at the dealer and looked around. NICE!!! Sure hope the BH TI32 will be on display at the rally in June.

    Warming up

Even though a snow flurry is possible tonight and tomorrow night, the weather is definitely getting warmer, and that means that it will soon be time to fill the water tanks in the 181. The dealer winterized it when we took possession in December, so now we need to reverse the process. What to...

    181 slide

How important is air circulation from the inside of the trailer to under the kitchen slide when the slide is out? We're going to be traveling with a cat, and I'm pretty sure that he will want to explore under there. I can easily block the ends, but what about where the toes go? Should I try to...

    mpg 181 electrical questions

We got our new 181 four weeks ago, and spent the first night in it. Unfortunately, it has had to sit alone for the past four weeks, and the battery went flat. I hooked the car up today, and let it idle for an hour or so to recharge the battery a bit. 1. Is the built-in charger a float charger...

    Unhitching

We picked up our new 181 Friday. Part of the deal was that we got a free night in the attached campground. Since we had to be in two different directions Saturday, the plan was that we would simply spend the night in the trailer and then go home, unhook, and do the rest of our activities. The...

    Mirrors

Our two vehicle is a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer. Do we need extra mirrors, or is the mpg narrow enough that the standard outside mirrors are sufficient?

    Brake controller

We're going to pick up our new 181 after Thanksgiving. The dealer has suggested that we can speed up the process if we pick up the connecting cable ourselves if the proper connection isn't already there. The tv is a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer with the Class III/IV tow package. The local Ford...

    Water tanks

Yesterday I looked underneath the mpg and saw the water/waste tanks. They are pretty close to the road and don't have any protection from road debris. Is that a potential problem, or are they made of tougher stuff than they appear?

    Gap?

When we looked at a 181 in the showroom Monday, I noticed that there was light visible around the slide. If I can see light, I would assume that water and bugs can also come in. Is this normal, or just a rig that hadn't been properly adjusted yet?
