    Summer Heat in Texas.

Indiana reached the century mark today, with a heat index of 115 to 120. Staying in the mid to upper 90's through next Monday. Might drop to the upper 80's for a couple of days, then back to the lower nineties. Hasn't rained for a couple of weeks. Even camping isn't fun in this heat...

    Mail order tires

Two years ago I checked with Maxxis and they wanted around $190 each at that time. I went to the nearest Discount Tire store and they ordered them and got them for $135 each. Got the valves replaced and balanced. Replaced the Mission tires.

    Need clarification on leaky toilet

Re: Need clarification on leky toilet About one year ago after I got my BH out of storage, I replaced both the floor and middle seals. The year before (09) is when I noticed water starting to leak from the toilet bowl. Then last year when I first applied water pressure to clear out all of the...

    Diesel Fuel

In the middle of Indiana it's ranging from $3.19 at Murphy's to $3.29 at Marathon. I've also seen news reports that by summer it will be above $4.00. We'll wait and see.

    Refrigerator that works!!

Late last year I realized that I had a problem with the refrigerator which is in a slideout. The temperature inside the refridge hovered around 40 degrees. I was told to disconnect the thermistor, which I did and turn on the refridge and leave it one for several hours. If the refridge section...

3210 landing gear driver side not lowering but passanger side.

This happened to me last October. Took the landing gear down and found the right side stayed up. Found both the bolt and the nut. Took the left side back up, replaced the bolt and nut, made sure it was tight and placed some silicone on them. Workes fine!

    Replacement lens for porch light

Couple of years ago I lost the lens to the step light. I called Heartland and they did not carry the lens itself, but I could buy the complete light (housing, bulb, and lens). That's what I did. I placed the lens on the housing and kept the rest in the box just in case.

    Toliet Seal

As you can see on my signature, my unit is four years old. So far it's been a good one. This year I had a couple of problems with the toilet. First the bowl itself wouldn't hold water, Then water started coming out from the base. Found both seals worn. Dometic sent me the seals and both are...

Hydrogen Sulfide Smell from Drains - BH 3385RL

Glad I found this, since this is the first time that I've got this problem also. And I agree that the heat wave we've been having is a contributing factor to this problem. The half gallon of bleach just might solve the problem. As far as using a drain cleaner in the P traps, might have to find...

    Slide-Out awning tension...

I made the PVC setup couple of years ago after having the same problem, same as Cookie's pic. Three years ago we were up in the U.P. of Michigan during a windy day, and it kept "flopping" and was real noisy inside. The setup works with both problems. Easy to make. Just don't glue the parts...

RV Crazy's "WAYZALOT" wrecked in Indiana.

I remember seeing that rig on the show "RV Crazy". They put a lot of work into that. They are lucky that the good Lord warched over them and walked away from it. From the way the pictures looked, it could have been worse. You never know on the open road. One mistake by someone can ruin a...

    Thermostat

I got rid of the analog thermostat last year and replaced it with the Hunter digital. There was one part of the instructions I had last year which I questioned where it stated "One switch wire is soldered to the base of terminal G on the back of the circuit board." I didn't want to place a...

front landing gear is half working

This happened to me last October after we pulled into a campground. Noticed the right side wasn't coming down. Never had that happened before. Bill is right! Found both the nut and bolt, evened the landing gear back up and tightened everything up. Learn something new every time. I do check this...

Rv is a danger to society!

Bill, I'm glad I'm not the only one that has that problem. The bad part is I've also got apartments across the street. You never know who moves in and out of them. Tonight a woman was chasing her kid down the street and cussing up a storm. I've got a double drive where I can park the complete...

    Blindspots

There's nothing wrong with being paranoid. I agree with Ray. After 33 years of being in law enforcement, I wouldn't stay in a WM lot overnight either. Even with all the camera equipment they have monitoring the lot, some people will do anything and everything to get their hands on anything...

    Four Years Old............

Uncle Rog: I see you still have your 2006 BH. Well, so do I. Every year since when I got mine out from under roof, I've had the same results. No problems whatsoever. So next month I hope I have the same results. Checked things out during storage and everything looked fine. So have fun...

    Slide Awning Draining Idea.

I got the idea from a late 07 or early 08 copy of Trailer Life. Just make sure to bring a ladder. It's up higher than you think.

    Slide Awning Draining Idea.

That's what I done back in 08. Wish now I had a picture of it. I made it the length of the slide out, with the height enough to tighten the awning. I made a "stand" on each end, plus placed one in the middle. This helps keep the water from pooling, plus helps when it gets windy. Just don't glue...

    Heartland RVs plans for 2010

Ref Heartland Growth! Concerning the Heartland growth, it was mentioned on the local television news this evening, about hiring 400 new employees due to a backlog of orders. That's great! They were going full blast when we were there last month.

    AHHH!! the sky is falling...

I had that happen a couple of weeks ago while at the KOA at Blufton, IN. It had been very windy all day and evening. We heard a loud "thud", went outside and found a very large branch behind the 5ver. Climbed on the ladder for any damage. Nothing on the rubber roof. But on the fiberglass part a...

    Heartland's Warranty is questionable

End of Story! Well, the end of the story is; Bogger is outnumbered. I haven't had any problems with Heartland. In fact, we were up there a couple of weeks ago. They gave us a tour, and they gave me directions to where parts and customer service was at since I needed a part. Everybody was very...

    Toilet not holding water

Been Brought Up Before! Do a search and you'll find this issue has been brought up before. Ours has the same problem. When it started I even took a old toothbrush and used it on the seal and ball to no avail. It will probably take a new seal to solve this problem.

Same Thing Here! Earlier this afternoon we arrived at the KOA in Bluffton, IN ready to unhook. I noticed that the left landing gear came down, but the right one did not. 2950rk BC towing with a 2009 3500 srw

Combo! My dually sits somewhat high solo. The hitch weight on your fiver according to specs is around 2288 lbs. By the time you get it loaded you could have it at around 2800 lbs. (20% of your GVWR). Once I hitch up, it takes the rear end down and it sits even. I'm sure yours will also.

    Slide would not close

Yes Ray! That's the correct piece. When you look at the photos, it seems that the end of the trim got caught, causing it to bend and moving the head of the screw down towards the floor, since I had a hard time getting the screw out. Everything else looks fine. I'll call Heartland Tuesday AM for...

    Check fuse for refrig.

Yesterday I removed the screw on ours and the box opened. There might be a couple of clips still holding it. The refridge was not cooling the way it should have been, staying in the lower forties. A tech told me what to check. Once you have the box open, check the two fuses. He told me to...
