    Shower pan leak

I have a reasonably fresh bead of silicone on the surround at the pan but I'll recheck it today. I had set a towel against the pan and the upper part of the towel was dry while the part against the floor was wet, but only if you waited several minutes after the shower. Thats what made me think...

    Shower pan leak

I am afraid I have a leak below the shower pan in my 3400rl. I do get some water from the bottom of the door but the floor alongside the shower gets wet right in the hall at the laundry opening. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to access the area under the shower. My guess right now is that...

    Prefered Method for Tire Changing:

I carry 2 6 ton jacks just because I picked up the second one at a garage sale. Found the best way is to jack under the axle at the spring mount point. Quick and easy and I don't need a ton of blocking. I think I've changed more than my share of flats. Bill

New Landmark owner - water leak in basement...

As an added check, while you have the panel off to access the bypass and winterizing valves, check the connections there plus the connections on the water heater. Mine had worked loose on a trip last fall and dumped alot of water in the underbelly. Bill

    wet underbelly

refer to my other post re "trip problems" The fix to the slide awning was simple. New end cap and bracket. Service manager says looks like something clipped and bent the anti furling device which then jammed the bracket when I opened the slide. However, I have a question regarding...

    Trip problems

Well, had a real nice couple of weeks at Myrtle Beach, good fishing in the surf and some golf with friends in MB Travel Park. Did have some problems though. While at the park, noted some water dipping from the bottom. Chased it back and found the inlet fitting at the water heater had...

Winter Storage and a few other questions.

If you intend to run the fridge while there, you will need to level the trailer. It's also a lot easier to load the trailer while its close to level. As far as draining, make certain you use plenty of water when flushing the toilet. when you empty the black tank the volume of water will help...

    Retired Law Enforcement

The intention of 218 was great but the practical is not. Here in NY, (I know) ******************* very few agencies are offering qualifications for the retired guys. It appears at this time that my agency has no intention of ever providing qualification time for the retired guys. Bill

Preparing water tank and lines for storage?

Our prep is pure winterization. Drain tanks and lines and fill lines with antifreeze. Normal midwinter startup (read heading to Florida) entails flushing the lines with a shot of bleach to sanitize. Bill

    Cleaning your rig

we've had the same problem in Florida. However they do permit a mobile wash service to come into the park and wash your rig. Since we hit a snowstorm on the way out of NY last year, we used him with very good results. Total wash including the roof and very reasonable priced. Bill

Cover or not cover for the winter?

Years ago, with another brand of fifth, I got concerned about snow load as we had sosme storms and the trailer sat with over 4 foot of snow on the roof. Their engineer told me that the only concern would be snow melt into the ac units. I have since applied that rule to all my rigs and keep the...

    Our favorite Adirondack Mtn park

OK, I'll confess. The park is Eagle Point on Schroon Lake, listed under Pottersville, NY. The site is listed for 20 foot and that's 37 foot on it. What you can't see is that the off side wheels are dug in about 6 inches to get us level. We stay there with several other families (9) and usually...

    Our favorite Adirondack Mtn park

Guys and Gals, We picked up our Bighorn on a Thursday and left on our annual trip on Sunday. This is a state park and this site is only rateed for a trailer much shorter than ours, but as you see, it fits OK. Bill

    door security

We've been rving for many years and locking the door is the absolute least of my worries. In the parks we've stayed at, the neighbors are always friendly. We usually don't even bother locking up when we go out. Bill

    Batteries

For the past several years, I've been using a pair of Interstate 6 volts. At the moment they are temporarily fastened in the trailer until I figure a good permanent mounting. Since we go without hookups for several weeks each summer, this system works well for us. Bill

    New tires for the Bighorn

Well, I guess I'm a member of the blown tire club. Picked up the new to us trailer on a Thursday and left for a short trip on Sunday. Didn't get 50 miles before I shredded a tire. I've blown tires before but never had one come apart like this. Biggest piece I saw flying was about six inches...

    damaged wiring from blown tire

Got it. You guys are right. What had me confused was that the connectors are pulled off the marker lights but thats where the wires go. Trusty NAPA store to get a generic GM marker socket which fits right rewiring done. Now to straighen out the panels and refasten them. The fan was something...

    damaged wiring from blown tire

Thanks, I'll look. The side marker is definitley pulled out but the step lights work. More chasing shows me the fantastic fan in the kitchen is not working now. Fun and joy of 12 v wiring. I'll try for a picture later this morning if I can't get this solved. Thanks, Bill

    damaged wiring from blown tire

Hi all, Home from our trip with the new to us Big Horn 3400rl. was a good trip except for the blown tire. Question is - on the curb side, there is a wire loom with two doubled wires ending in what appears to be slip connectors. They appear to drop in behind the steps but I have no idea where...

    Brrrrr!!!

Just home from 3 weeks at a nice lake in northern NY. Started the 6th with it 52 degrees in the morning and got worse from there. Next 3 days in the mid 40s! second week in the 50s with daytime high in the mid 60s. Darn, this is July and we're supposed to be warm here. 3rd week finally got us...

    What's this switch control.

Perfect, thanks to all. I wouldn't have thought of that for awhile. In my dealers defense, he is not a Heartland dealer. I have had excellent results with their service department before and this tech was a young lad. thanks again, Bill

    What's this switch control.

New to us 2006 3400rl. We did the pdi yesterday and neither the tech nor I could figure this out. In the closet, there are 3 110 electrical switches. All is good except for the switch nearest the outside wall. What does it control. Thanks, Bill

    New Heartland owner

Pa. might sound interesting. Haven't planned that month yet so we'll have to see what works out. Big concern now is my reservations in NY park starting Sunday. Daughter's in-laws up there already and new people are working there, couple having come from other state parks where the rules are...

    New Heartland owner

Exactly - it's she who must be obeyed. It's one of the smartest moves I ever made cause she runs the finances and is much better than me. She will defer to me on most tech issues though. Dealer this time is Alpin Haus as it's a used rig. They've been a very good dealer for me through many...

    New Heartland owner

Hi all, New to Heartland as we just signed on a 3400rl today and pick it up on Thursday. Went to look at another trailer and SWMBO fell in love with the floorplan of the Bighorn. We're not new to rvs having started with an Apache popup about 1970 and are trading a Hitchhiker in. This...
