Heartland Frame Thread on RV.com forum

I can tell you from sad experience that Heartland has had some broken frames up in the bedroom area. Mine was one of them. I have a 2006 Bighorn and my frame broke. The good news is, it was fixed under warranty. They also welded several pounds of gussets in to reinforce the front frame area...

    Air Conditioner remote

Hey Terry, I may make the south Texas one but the other is out of the question. I decided I didn't like retirement and went back to work so my extended trips will be fewer for a while. I wouldn't mind going back to Palo Duro again one of these days either.

    Laminate floor?

I had mine done at the dealer, Explore USA in Kyle Texas, they did a real bang up job. I went with the wood look. They said it would be better to leave the carpet on the slide part so that is what I did. Another Question, wonder how hard it would be to replace the carpet in the bed room and...

Poll: If in the Market, Would You Buy Another Heartland

With a broken frame, fixed under warranty, a broken spring and spring shackles, and a host of minor problems i fixed my self, I still like my Bighorn. Would I buy another one if I were in the market today??, Yeah, but not the biggest think I could haul. I would down size some.

    Air Conditioner remote

I posted this in another area but maybe ask the factory is the best place to ask. Is there any way to get rid of the remote and put in a wall thermostat without having to replace the air conditioner as well?

    Laminate floor?

I had laminate put in my kitchen, it works well and looks great. Got to remember though, laminate is heavier than linoleum so you gonna have a trade off somewhere.

Air conditioner with the remote controll

I still have the early remote control air and heat system. The thing has never seemed to work correctly, no matter where i have the remote located. Has anyone figured out how to get rid of this little jewel and go to a wall thermostat without having to buy a new A/C unit?

    Axles for 2006 Bighorn 3400RL

Thanks for the many replies, I looked and yes, I have Alko axles, I will talk to Heartland but figure the axles are probably not under warranty now. A note about how cheap springs are; in Texas, the spring would have cost me about $50.00, in Kingston N. Y. it cost me $125.00, I also got...

    Axles for 2006 Bighorn 3400RL

I would like to know what axles were originally used in this rig and can they be changed to a heavier rated axle? I have one that seems to have absolutely no arc in it and I have broken a spring, shackle hanger and shock on that axle.

Use of electric heating element for water heater - need advice.

Gas operation I have a 2006 Bighorn and I have never got it to run the hot water on gas. I procrastinated until it was out of warranty so it still doesn't work on gas. Maybe I just don't know how to work it.

    Lippert Components....

I am glad to hear that. I left Texas a little over a week ago and when I got into Alabama, I found out that the hander for the spring shackle on the left rear axle had come unwelded, and when backing up the rear wheel would go forward and hit the front axle wheel. I managed to get it to a...

    Purchased 3500 RL Denton Texas

There are dealers and then there are dealers. I bought my 2006 Bighorn from ExploreUSA in Kyle Texas and through some minor and some major issues with the trailer, I can tell you that the service efforts from that location was nothing short of outstanding. That doesn't solve your issues I...

    Towing the Blue Ridge Parkway

Thanks Van, I was kinda worried about it, my trailer is in the neighborhood of 12'6" and it makes me nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rockers to think about leaving the air conditioner hanging on a low underpass, or worse the roof of the trailer. Dusty
