Hunter conversion and the HI-low fan switch

Along the lines of timk's queston, has anyone done a conversion to a digital t-stat that has the Dometic remote control model??? I figure a fixed t-stat will be harder to throw through the window.

    Please reassure me!

Good call Jim. Bashing will not benefit the conversation. I am perfectly ok with having to continue to do normal maintainance, but this seems a little excessive. Overall, I am happy with my Heartland. I think I set my expectations a little too high when I purchased it, however. I have...

    Please reassure me!

Someone please tell me that this Heartland experience gets better. I went on trip number nine this past week and found a leaking holding tank(talk about disgusting), hydraulic leak in the front storage compartment, leaking water in the compartment where you pull the tank valves, and screws...

    water heater problem

I got a chance to check the heater element today and it read 20Mohms on my meter (definately an open circuit). I picked up another one at Camping World and it reads 10.1ohms. Thanks everyone for helping me find the problem (or what appears to be the problem).

    water heater problem

I was able to get over to the trailer today and the rocker switch IS turned on at the unit, so that isn't the problem. I guess I need to start checking for good connections. Stay tuned.

    water heater problem

Thanks for the responses. I'll check if the rocker switch in on or off. If it is on, then I will start checking for loose connections.

    water heater problem

I didn't realize that there was a switch on the water heater as well. Can I get to it from the storage bay by removing the panel on the non-door side? Is this the panel you are talking about?

    water heater problem

My water heater will heat water to room temperature, maybe even less, when using electric and scorching hot when using gas (as it should). I took this to my dealer last summer and he stated that on electric, the water shouldn't get very hot at all. Is this true in the BH??? My three previous...

    Fireplace

Does anyone know if you can get a fireplace in the Big Country 3490 BHS model? It is listed as an option for the Big Country, but the two dealers I talked to are not sure if it is available in the 3490.

entertainment slide & backside of counter bottom cupboard door accident

I've seen what you are talking about ChopperBill. My parents have those cabinets in their Lance camper. Pretty snazzy. I'll try to get some pictures for the forum. As a thought, how about using magnetic child locks. When my kids were really young, I used them in the house cabinets. After...

    Draining Waste Tanks

phranc, The grey 1 tank, in my coach, is to the shower and the sink in the bedroom. Some type of clogged vent makes perfect sense. I am pretty sure there is a vent on the top of the tank, but I don't know if there is one somewhere else. Anybody??? timk, I am possitive that the tank was...

    Draining Waste Tanks

I thought it might be plugged at first, as well. However, after I figured out how to make the grey 1 tank flush, I filled it back up again and had the same problem. I had just got all the tanks empty, then filled only the grey 1 tank and it would not drain until I ran water through the black...

    Draining Waste Tanks

I just returned from a week and a half long stay in the Arizona mountains. I had full hookups and everything was working fine until I tried to drain the grey water 1 tank. It simply wouldn't drain. I pulled the lever and nothing. After pondering for while, I hooked up the water source to the...

    Arn't we a strange bunch!?

I read some other forums and I have to say that our problems pale in comparison to others. Sure they could get better, but I believe that is why Heartland participates in this forum. They want to the be the best and understand the listening to customer concerns and acting on them is the...

    Arn't we a strange bunch!?

I hear you, ChopperBill. We are strange bunch to expect that a new fiver should be clean, have properly working systems, and be built to spec when we pick it up. You have every right to post your concerns. I don't believe; however, that was really your intent. I think you are simply saying...

    Westward Ho!!!

How about a Heartland rally that is a little closer for us sun dwellers. I've been reading posts and it seems like the last rally was a good opportunity to meet fellow owners, talk to factory folks, and generally have a great time. How about something a little further west of the continental...

    Airconditioner & Honda EO2000i ?

L'l John, Lee is absolutely correct. It is pretty simple to build the parallel kit for these generators. I have built two different configurations (one using the the bananna jack and one using the duplex outlets) and they both work perfectly. If you want more information on how to do it you...

    Wiring Diagram

Maybe it is possible to have technical data posted on the Heartland web page. It could even be password protected so it is only available to Heartland owners. Just a thought.

Loosing Water From The Fresh Water Tank

Scott, Will there be repair instruction sent to the dealers for those of us who have bought out Bighorn before the "new vent era?" :)

    airflow spec for AC vents

Thanks for the reply, Scott. I appreciate the response, but my AC is definitely blowing cool enough, my problem is that one of the vents in the living area has very little air coming out of it an the other has almost none. It makes no difference if I have the quick cool vent open or...

    airflow spec for AC vents

Scott or Coley, I know that this subject has been covered extensively in this forum, but my trailer is currently at the dealer and we are having a disagreement about what is acceptable airflow through the AC vents. Without getting into particulars that would probably bore the masses, does an...

    Dry camping water woes!!!

I know that I wasn't completely level, but I was close. It makes sense though. I try it again in a few weeks using your tips to plug up the vent tubes. I can think of a number of ways to design the system better, but maybe it is that way to comply with some code. Who knows. Thanks for...

    towing wth F250 powerstroke

Midastouch, No need to install another brake controller. In my case, I had a plug installed in the bed of the pickup that was spliced directly into the existing trailer wiring. I think it is pretty ingenous by Ford to allow your trailer to utilize the same ABS as the truck does. Tom, I bet...

    Dry camping water woes!!!

TimK, Thanks for the response. The shallow nature of the tank explains so much except that when I put 12 gallons in, I certainly didn't get 12 gallons out, or even close. I probably retrieved only a gallon (engineering estimate). I will certainly use your method of filling next time the...

    Dry camping water woes!!!

I'll try to be as brief as I can but I am not very good at that:). I have read every post on this subject that I could find and some appear to be close to my problem, but not quite. I took delivery of my 3500RL on the 6th of May. We took it out for the first time to a lake here in Arizona...

    towing wth F250 powerstroke

I tow my Bighorn 3500RL with my F-250 Crew Cab short bed 4X4. According to Ford, since '05 the F-250 has a fifth wheel towing capacity of 15,400 pounds (a little more with a V-10 because of less engine weight). I couldn't get a straight answer on the maximum pin weight, but I have had no...

Confusion on my model of Bighorn

Thanks all for the replies. I did talk with the dealer today and they verified that they made a mistake on the paperwork and will correct it. They did want to charge me more money saying that the sold me a 3500 at a 3200 price, but I nipped that in the bud quickly. Thanks again.

Confusion on my model of Bighorn

Thanks Phranc, I will definately check the VIN on the coach. It is a really nice unit. After looking for months, I knew this was the right unit for me as soon as I saw it. As far as the price, I am pretty sure, from what I can gather on the Internet and NADA, that I paid a 3500 price. It...

Confusion on my model of Bighorn

Thanks for the responses. I was thinking it was a 3500 as well. Curious why the dealer would sell it as a 3200. The advertised VIN is indeed the same one on the paperwork from the dealer. I don't actually pick up my unit until Saturday, so I can't check what is on the unit..........never...

Confusion on my model of Bighorn

Hi all, I am a new member as I just purchased my Bighorn 3200RL today (4/29). At least I thought I purchased a 3200. All the dealership paperwork says it is, however, the coach doesn't even come close to matching the floorplan. Could someone please look at these pictures and tell me what I...
