We just purchased a Heartland Sundance 5th wheel and are also park hosts at the Sparks Marina RV Park. I was surprised to see that there will be a Heartland Rally at our park this summer! The Sparks/Reno area has a lot to offer - close to Lake Tahoe (one of the prettiest lakes in the United States; short drive to Virginia City (a neat restored mining town); the RV park is within walking distance to Scheels Sporting Goods store (the largest all sports sporting goods store in the United States - yes - bigger than Cabelas or Bass Pro Shops; and to top it off - you can sit in the RV park and watch the fireworks on the 4th that are shot off the rooftop of the Nugget Casino! Stop by space 181 and say hi! We are looking forward to seeing all of you!

What a coincidence! It sounds like you really enjoy the park and the surrounding activities. I'm sure the fireworks in particular are worth the trip.

Hey John do we really have only 14 rigs for this rally? It has been four weeks since the last update. Please post up about what is new. Several of us would really like to know.
Thanks.

Curious minds want to know the details. Is this really all the reservations we have? I'm going to have surgery the end of June or the first of July. I need details to help make that timing decision.

There is no map of the park available online and they are not reserving specific sites except for the rally Leaders until check in. I was wondering if anyone that has stayed there has a site map they could scan and post up.

Thanks
PJ

I don't know if you ever received an answer or site map of the park; if you go to the 1st event note - the one with the map of the area - and click on satellite view and then zoom in on the park - all of the perimeter sites are back in sites and the 4 rows in the middle are all pull through sites. The pull through sites will accomodate rigs up to 60' in length and all have a seperate parking space for your car or truck (space for 1 vehicle). All sites have full hook-ups -30 & 50 AMP service, cable TV, and wi-fi at your site (no additional fee). The blue roofed buildings include a clubhouse, office & laundromat, and a front, middle, back of park restrooms.

If you need additional info - let me know & I'll try to help you out.

Thanks brubrb for the park info.

h20basser,
I'm not in charge of this rally. I would say though that you could come in and visit for a day and everyone would love to meet you. Rallies are more fun if you can stay for all of the activities, but just hanging out with other owners and doing what you can while you are there is good too.

Come visit us. This is going to be a small event. Only 15 registered rigs as of today. Too bad this rally was not promoted better and updated once in awhile. In spite of that, we have a great group of people and should be a good time for all.

Jim and kathy will be there. We had a great time in Jackson last weekend and look forward to Sparks. Maybe we can get a little sunshine in Sparks and a chance to dry out. Just down the road from the RV park is BJ's with a great beer selection and walking distance back home.

Our reservations are done. Arriving Thursday afternoon, leaving Tuesday a.m. Didn't know what dates I was going to be able to go, but John knew we were attending. When I was in Reno last weekend, I set up a tech to do a talk on solar systems on Friday, times TBD w/ John. Will have a 15% Off coupon from Safari RV, Reno for everyone as well. Will have coupons for our camp out folks next weekend too :)

Well, my surgery date has been set as June 28, so we won't be making it to this rally. Have fun and enjoy the fireworks!

Ziggy, we will miss you in Sparks. Just have to have extra fun in Yreka. See ya soon!

I'm disappointed we can't go. I was looking forward to seeing everyone and meeting the new people. Maybe we can come back from the National next year through Reno.

Hey John. A couple of questions. Will there be a raffle at the pot luck on saturday? What about food at the meet and greet on Friday? Should everyone bring some finger food?

Just an FYI - If you are planning on taking I80 East, it is a mess as usual in the summer!! It is usually less congested early in the morning and make sure that your cooling system is working optimally!! Just plan on some slow going and narrow lanes and you will be fine. See you all in Sparks!

We hear that I80 is pretty bad too. We are going up Hwy 88 from Lodi, it'll take much longer to get there but at least the roads are well paved and very scenic. :)

OK.. for those of you that are attending... Heartland is treating all members out for the Buffet Dinner and the "Illuminaire" Show at the El Dorado Casino/Hotel on Sunday night. For more info on the show: Illuminaire Dinner reservations for our group is around 5:00pm. Show is at 7:00pm and seating for the show begins at 6:30pm. This will give everyone some time to play the slots after dinner & before the show!:D

I'm guessing that the Potluck dinner on Saturday will be around 6:00pm... subject to change by John. We will be BBQing meat and each rig is to bring a salad or dessert dish to share.

Not sure what John plans for the Welcome get-together on Friday night. I'll call him and post it once I get the info...so hang in there everyone! It'll be a fun weekend and everyone will have a great time... especially looking forward to the Illuminare Show! I hear it is AWESOME!!!!
