Dodge 2500 CTD -- Which 5ver Do You Pull?

Who out there on the forum uses a 2006, 2500 Quad Cab, 5.9L, 4WD, 4 speed, 3.73 axle, 6.25 ft. bed to pull a Bighorn? What year/model 5ver, with or without slider hitch, and how does has it worked for you?

I've really been struggling with the whole tow weight question.

What are the GVWR and payload on your truck? Get these from the door sticker.

Hey Bill, short of the 4 speed, that's my truck and I tow our BC without issue. I've added the mor-ride pin box and Firestone airbags. Good luck.

2500s are limited to about a 3,000 lbs payload. Payload is THE critical factor in towing 5ths. Look at the trucks specs. They vary a great deal and off the lot trucks are usually much lower than the advertised specs. Options may a big difference.

We pulled a Big Country 3250 (little lighter than the Big Horn) with a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel for a couple of years. We traded for a 2009 Dodge Ram 3500 diesel srw because we wanted the exhaust brake which couldn't be added on to that Japenese transmission of the 2006. Also didn't like the hard shift thru the gears.

I tow a 37 qb with the same truck mine is mega cab I put air bag on it that helped a lot it has a programmer and kn air filter pin wight is 2100 lbs it pulls all some.more power then I will ever need.

We pull the Elkridge E289. I think it's the perfect size and weight for our Ram 2500 CTD 4X4.
