Replacing cable to release recliner on 5 person couch

The "D" ring cable broke on the 5 person couch in our unit. It is the left hand seat, nearest the fridge. I have a replacement cable, but I looked under the seat to try to figure out how the cable runs. But the seat has a cover under it that does not allow me to follow the cable run. Any ideals on how the cable run is or if it would be best to just cut my way into it to do it?

I don't know that I would cut my way in. The cover is probably attached with small staples or tacks... you should be able to pull it away from the side you need to get to and then re-attach it when your done.
