Couch cover ideas?

Our couches, like so many others, are falling apart in items of the fake leather. What have others done to remedy this. I would love to see/hear ideas since they look awful now.

we use a cover that the wife bought from one of the magazines she seen it in. on our chairs use a bath towel for them
