Kevin, are you referring to the Bighorn in your signature or do you now have a 2011 Elkridge? As jimtoo says, the newer rigs have the security lights controled by the remote that comes with the rig.
Don't know which Elk Ridge you are talking about, but on our 2011 27RLSS, the security switch light is inside the door that is located just inside of the door going into the 5er.
The only Heartland brands that offer the wireless remote control system are: ElkRidge and Big Country. The wireless remote controls the electric awning, electric rear jacks, front jacks, all slides, and the outside scare lights. The scare lights can only be controlled from the remote.
Our 2011 ElkRidge does not have a remote. Our scare lightswitch is in the 'control panel' inside the cabinet door just in front of you as you enter the rig - to the right of the TV area (sounds like the same basic location as in the 27RLSS).
