Said it before, will say it again!

If I needed to make that many mods to my truck in order to pull my trailer, I believe I would just buy a bigger truck already suited to do the job. I have driven a half ton all the way up to a semi and none had to have anything beyond stock gear to do the job. Sure we can add more power with...

Re: Camp Out / Atlanta State Park Texas Iit wasnt my intention to make it sound like 2 chapters was a bad thing. Was looking more for clarification if only one chapter is being formed or 2. It sounds like a lot from central texas area are wanting to get new one going and also several on...

Turning radius with a shortbed truck.

I think I may have paid around 200.00 more for my slider hitch than the fixed unit the dealership recommended. They recommended a 16k non-slider but I got the 20k reese hitch with slide. Maybe i just got a good deal on the hitch if this isnt normal cost difference. I really wouldnt consider...

Turning radius with a shortbed truck.

I have a shortbed f250 and went ahead and got the slider just in case I get into a spot I may need it but havent had to move it yet. I was very skeptical as well but ive had to get very close to 90 a few times and never required sliding. I think I would still get the slider regardless since...

    roasting a turkey

Just curious why people arent just using a roaster oven then you can cook whatever size turkey you want. Unless you are just wanting to do it the campfire way. We dont always carry ours in the rv but have one at the house we store in the original box and can toss it in the rv if need be. We...

Thank You to Mike and Heartland Customer Service

Great to hear you all made it out of the storms pathway. Be safe out there, from the news it looks like some areas getting hit pretty hard.

To all our friends in Irene's path

If any of you in the path of the storms wants to head over to Oklahoma we can make some room also, and if you can drag along some of that rain with you, we could definitely use some of it here. Be safe and definitely get out of its path if at all possible. No need to take any unnecessary risks.

I am having a 50 amp installed in front of our 3rd garage door. A friend who is a commercial electrician in between main jobs is installing it at a very reasonable price.

water regulators- connect at the faucet or at the camper?

that is a nice setup JohnDar how you have all the devices incorporated into the storage box.. keeps it simplified for when you go to hook everything up. I think I may have to engineer one to look similar to that.

    Question About Progressive EMS Protector

jmgratz, I agree with you 110%.. better to err on the side of caution.. i have it in my plans to have a permanent one added. guess i was more curious as to how often those using it are running into issues with power at the sites.. how many campgrounds are in need of repairs to the connections...

water regulators- connect at the faucet or at the camper?

great info Danemayer.. the link was very informative.. I am also running a filter, so looks like I need to possibly look for a larger filter as well to help get better flow to my rv.. it hasnt been bad, but definitely room for improvement. i think the adjustable regular that allows for the...

    Question About Progressive EMS Protector

i seen on a different thread that someone was using a ems detector, and had to move like5-6 times to find a spot that was not giving improper electrical error.. i think it was something with the ground wire. I have been considering adding one to my RV, but sort of concerned that I may be running...

    How safe is propane?

I havent tried one of these yet, however looks to me they would work for the higher rv window as well.. I havent put thought into the height before reading this, but now I may look into getting one of these also for my 5er. First Alert EL52-2 Two-Story 14-Foot Escape...

How safe are these RV fridges?

both, there are detectors you can purchase and install in the camper that will alert you to a gas leak, but also there is a propane sniffer that you can use to do an inspection of your RV. camping world sells them for around $20-$30. fairly cheap for peace of mind if propane is one of your...

    RV Hot-Skin electrical shocks

the brand is Gardner Bender (GB) and the model is a GVD-3504. it is too sensitive for the above test. it starts lighting up if you get anywhere near the receptacle.. I will swing by Sears and see if i can find the Fluke Brand VoltAlert.

    RV Hot-Skin electrical shocks

i wasnt able to find that brand, but found a Gardner Bender. it has the flat blade tip and shows a operating range between 50-600VAC, 50-60Hz; CAT III 600V. hopefully this one will suffice.. if not, i will go online and order one.. We are planning to take the rv out middle of next week, so didnt...

water regulators- connect at the faucet or at the camper?

After reading another thread with a slightly different topic, it got me curious as to where most people connected their water pressure regulators, at the faucet before the hose or at the camper after the hose is connected to the faucet. some have mentioned too low of water pressure if between...

Is a slider hitch needed for a 2011 F-350 SB

I have a sb ford f250 and went ahead and purchased the slide as a just in case. Imo it is worth the extra to have it if you need it than to need it and not. Also on a future 5th wheel that you may purchase or need to pull that doesn't have heartland 88 degree corners then you don't need to...

I am planning to visit the Sulfur Ok area end of next week. Arbuckle Lake, an the Arbuckle Mountains.. How safe are these RV fridges?

whether it be refrigerators, or stoves, or the heater or even the electrical, there is always a risk even in your home, but we cant let these things prevent us from doing what we enjoy.. can a refrigerator malfunction? sure it can, but I have used them over the years in 5 different RV's myself...

I would agree. Ahh the good ole days when company's really knew how to advertise. I came across a similar add but for an old Tandy computer. It was a picture of this huge box and old style screen which offered blazing speeds with its 64kb ram option. For measley price of 8,000.

New Heartland MPG Owner's Electical Woes

Best way to troubleshooting 12v is to start at power source and trace it back seeing where you are getting power to along the way. A simple light tester that can be picked up at any automotive store would be highly beneficial. Check battery for a strong charge first Then check and clean the...

Replacing Slide Carpet and Slide "Uprights"

I Am not positive how Left placed his but looks to me like you'd be able to place a piece of hard wood to be the outer transition edge on the slide floor then can taper it so it is smooth transition to stationary floor. Then bring the laminate flooring right up to butt into this wood. It would...
