    2014 CY3100 Power Issue

No, I did not test with a meter. I unplugged shore before I ever opened the box. Somewhere on the internet (so it must be true) mentioned that the contactors should be able to be pressed down easily. This happens on the generator side but not the shore side. That's where I stopped. To be...

    2014 CY3100 Power Issue

@danemayer thanks, I'll call them on Monday. @david-steph2018 I did completely disconnect both sides of the switch but I didn't touch the gauge wiring. That can be my next step. I hadn't thought about the gauge as being a place for a short.

    2014 CY3100 Power Issue

I will disassemble everything Sunday when we get back. At least I have a generator and batteries connected to an inverter. The only thing I need the generator for is A/C.

    2014 CY3100 Power Issue

Regarding the first issue, no shore power, I was able to identify that the transfer switch has an issue. The contactor on the generator side (blue) moves freely while the shore side (red) is stuck up. Anyone know if this is repairable or need to replace entire transfer switch?

Ok, I disconnected power then the switch and replaced the fuse. As soon as I reconnected the battery, fuse blew even without the switch connected.

    2014 CY3100 Power Issue

Hey, how about that? LOL Handed wife panel before looking at it. That fuse is identified as FP. Still not sure since fuel is still flowing to the generator. Could be the fuel station (which I have never used).

    2014 CY3100 Power Issue

I have an issue where shore power does not work, but Gen power does. This should isolate the issue to the transfer switch. I am going to look at that this morning. The second issue, not sure if it is relates or not is that I have a 20A fuse that is blown. I replaced the fuse and it...

Onan 5500 in Cyclone is throwing Error Code 58 (Exhaust Gas Temperature Shutdown)

The solenoid seems to move easily. I disassembled it an was able to verify it is not stuck. I have altitude set for sea level. Which is probably within 500 feet.

Onan 5500 in Cyclone is throwing Error Code 58 (Exhaust Gas Temperature Shutdown)

The other carb was not brand new. It was my old one that had issues. I bought a new one (current) before attempting to clean/rebuild the old one. After cleaning and rebuilding, we did test and made sure it worked. I thought I completely cleaned it and dried it out prior to storage. I must...

Onan 5500 in Cyclone is throwing Error Code 58 (Exhaust Gas Temperature Shutdown)

No, there is no old fuel. I am running a line directly from the pump to a fuel can with fresh fuel. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Ugh, my other carb won't even run! I hate this thing! I know I completely disassembled everything, soaked in SeaFoam, blown out with compressed air and still won't start.

Well, the tapping trick did not work. When the engine cools down, I will try a different carb (again) with the tapping method.

Yes, I saw your page. I will try the solenoid tapping tonight. I am still going through the rest of the posts. Thanks for the explanation on the float. I guess the pump is working as it should be.

Onan 5500 in Cyclone is throwing Error Code 58 (Exhaust Gas Temperature Shutdown)

Tonight I finished draining the fuel tank and lines. I disconnected the fuel filter from the pump and added a new one. I had a secondary line going directly into a gas can with fresh fuel and 2oz of seafoam. Generator still starts and surges, no nasty crap spewing out of the exhaust. ran it...

Onan 5500 in Cyclone is throwing Error Code 58 (Exhaust Gas Temperature Shutdown)

Yes, this has sat for almost a year. I drained the fuel out of the carb, but not out of the filter or pump. I had had sea foam in with the fuel, but tonight I drained the fuel tank. Tomorrow, I will add fresh fuel. I will also replace the fuel filter (since I have one). i have a second...

Onan 5500 in Cyclone is throwing Error Code 58 (Exhaust Gas Temperature Shutdown)

I have an odd issue and can't find the problem. At first, I could not get the generator to start, but after some fiddling around and adjusting the altitude setting, we got it to fire up. With no load, the generator surges dramatically. When I add a load, it will run for a minute or two then...

    What's your favorite carry weapon?

I have been carrying the Sig Sauer P938, concealed, for the past couple of years. I just started carrying a Colt Defender and find it more comfortable to carry, even though it is physically larger. I have also shifted from a 1-2 o'clock position to 3 o'clock.

What to do with my Cyclone for the next 2 years?

JohnD, you are right. We were talking about that anyway since we are just starting a home remodel. We figured that we while the kitchen was being gutted, the trailer would be our temporary home.

What to do with my Cyclone for the next 2 years?

Trace, I think you are right. I am overthinking this whole thing. Even if we don't get out and use it, at least we still have it. Sonja and I still look at RV's and nothing has what we want. We are happy with our current rig. I guess I may just have to take vacation time mid week to get out...

What to do with my Cyclone for the next 2 years?

I never thought about non-op. I guess it works like a car and I could do that. Too bad registration was this month. Already paid for the year. As for local places, yes. There are some places we can go and camp locally. I could probably take a train into school on Saturdays, since the...

What to do with my Cyclone for the next 2 years?

I am trying to decide what to do with my Cyclone 3100. We love it and have tried getting out at least once a month. In actuality, it turns into about 10 trips a year. I will be going back to school this fall for a MBA! Unfortunately that means I will be very busy for the next 2 years. My...

    ATF: Cyclone - mishap unhooking

I think that plastic becomes brittle. I have had a few bends in it, due to hitting truck rails. Our last trip out, last week, I had both sides break off large pieces. I will not repair or replace until time to sell, then I may think about it. Probably not replace it, but that is really the...

I have a 7900 in my truck and my wife has one in her Jetta. They both work flawless. I would buy again in a heartbeat. We have a new Corvette and want to add one. I have not gotten around to ordering one. For that car, I would look for something a little smaller, unless I can get it to fit...

Not Jeff Couchs, but RV Wholesalers dot com. I bought from them and would probably do it again. Price was right and was delivered to my driveway. I don't think I would recommend them if you are new to rv's. You are on your own for PDI and learning the different systems. That is really my...

A question about our 2010 Cyclone model 3010

You are welcome. I am a little surprised the F250 has more payload that the F350. As long as all the weights work out, you should be fine. Remember with full water and no weight in the garage, that % of trailer weight on the hitch will be increased. The truck should still ride close to...

TPMS Sensors - Rubber vs Metal Valve Stems

You are welcome. I did have to add the repeater to my setup. The distance between the rear axle of my CY3100 and the dash of my long bed truck was a little bit of a stretch for the wireless signal. After adding the repeater to the generator compartment of the trailer, I have had ZERO issues.

TPMS Sensors - Rubber vs Metal Valve Stems

Been running on rubber valve stems on my truck for two years. I leave the TST 507 non flow through sensors on 24/7. My truck does not have OEM TPMS, so it is not a big deal either way. I did replace the trailer's valve stems to metal. I needed more clearance from the wheel in order to...

A question about our 2010 Cyclone model 3010

What is safe to do and what keeps you out of trouble sometimes can be two different things. Understand that the GVWR of 14,000 is what you will be expected to operate at. If you were involved in an accident, you will want to make sure you are not exceeding that. That will keep you out of...

A question about our 2010 Cyclone model 3010

I am surprised you only have GVWR of 14K. I have a 3100 and it has a 15.5K GVWR. But you are correct, there is very little payload capacity once you have the necessities. I think they should have had 8K axles. That could have given another 2K of potential payload.

Is extra stabilization needed with a 6 point level up

I added JT Strongarms to our CY3100 after several months. Was a great choice. We leave our dogs (two 65lb labradors) in the garage at night. Sometimes, they decide to play (or run in their dreams!). Well, the 6 pt level up system can only do so much for stability! Adding the Strongarms, we...

Did Heartland Discontinue the Cyclone 3100?

I was on the website the other day and noticed that the 3100 was not on there. I am surprised they would drop the model so quickly (2-3 years). We have a 2014 and got it right when they came out in July 2013. We love this design. To us, it was a perfect compromise between the 3010 and the...
