Leaving the Heartland Landmark family but not the Thor product line

It is with much disappointment with the first RV purchase we made that we recently chose to start over and buy new rather than used (and all the issues that can be associated with used RVs). We had hoped Landmark built or had plans in the very near future to build a similar floorplan to the LM...

Before you buy that RV, do you know all you need to know?

My experience with NADA has been that it seems most important with the lenders. My point in this thread regarding NADA value was more directed to how it affects the buyer's ability to get the lender to finance the unit and how it will affect the terms offered by the lender. My lender IberiaBank...

Before you buy that RV, do you know all you need to know?

Thank you Sandpirate69 for the comment and appreciation of my sharing of this information. Was beginning to believe I'm not well liked on this forum and maybe need to go elsewhere! LOL

Before you buy that RV, do you know all you need to know?

First I do not believe that I "skewed the information" or have made it appear that my "unit wasn't taken care of and respectfully ask that you point to exactly where I did so. Personally, I believe you have missed the point of this thread. My unit's issues prior to it falling under our current...

Before you buy that RV, do you know all you need to know?

You are correct on what I did not point out on my unit. That information would be irrelevant in this post as I am addressing the buyers of brand new units and more so buyers of used units that still have warranty time left on them that transfers to the next buyer, if in fact it does. Rather...

Before you buy that RV, do you know all you need to know?

I see you have a 2007 BH. I assume you are speaking of that being the model year designation by the RV manufacturer. It would be interesting if you shared the actual build date of your Fiver. If it was actually built in 2007 or some point in 2006 after our unit was built its possible the way...

Before you buy that RV, do you know all you need to know?

OK folks, you've just decided to take that leap of faith and dump anywhere from tens of thousands to over a hundred thousand dollars of your hard earned dineros into your future home on wheels. You have researched well and know all you should know to make the right choice, or so you think...

From a dream to a nightmare: One buyer's story

OK folks, in bringing this topic to close on my part and stop beating the dead horse cause all its hair has gotta be worn off by now: We love our 2008 Mount Rushmore Suites by Heartland. They built an absolutely beautiful and affordable Fiver in this unit. But, we were not and are not happy to...

From a dream to a nightmare: One buyer's story

In clearing up the confusion some of you have as to my statements of what year our MR is: It is represented by Heartland as being the 2008 model of this floor plan as is indicated in the serial number of the unit, yet the sticker on the pin box of the frame that was hidden by a paint over shows...

From a dream to a nightmare: One buyer's story

The unit remained in good hands until shortly before our dealer bought it at auction and then only had it less than three months before we purchased it.

From a dream to a nightmare: One buyer's story

I simply asked Heartland if they could build us this unit new or if they plan to bring it back into production in the near future so that we could buy the same floor plan but in a new unit rather than used as we currently have. In my case the with the limited personal credit lines (because I...

From a dream to a nightmare: One buyer's story

No, the problem showed no signs of delam at that time to myself or the dealer's service department. Then after we took delivery and planned to open the slide the last time we were home this is what we found even before opening it from the last time it was closed up. Up until this point our only...

From a dream to a nightmare: One buyer's story

Happy 4TH Of July celebration to all! Hope you are enjoying you Heartland Fiver at your favorite RV resort for the four day holiday. Our 4TH was spent on an emergency run moving a jet engine and the cowlings for it from Denver to Houston. Just delivered it this evening. We will leave Houston in...

From a dream to a nightmare: One buyer's story

Update: It would appear that there has been a factory repair kit designed specifically for the floor delam issues experienced with these slide boxes found in Elkhart and will be shipped to my unit next week. I am thankful to the one that has stepped up to the plate to help out with this problem...

From a dream to a nightmare: One buyer's story

I have all documents in hand verifying the Texas to Heartland to Knoxville move. Dealer docs and Heartland docs. Since the original buyer had to buy a new MRS that had already been built since for whatever reason that floorplan was not being built on the line at the time (otherwise I'm sure they...

From a dream to a nightmare: One buyer's story

The slide floor rotted from the bottom up of the sheet. In pressing hard on the surface of the total floor area of the slide it gave the false sensation that the floor was solid. Pressing on the outside did not give much clue either. All damage was hidden under the skin and moldings...

From a dream to a nightmare: One buyer's story

You comments regarding buying new verses used echo our original plan when purchasing our Fiver. We wanted new so that we would know its history and how it had been treated from day one. But as I stated before, because the RV lenders are unwilling to consider one's excellent business credit loans...

From a dream to a nightmare: One buyer's story

Without having taken the slide completely out of the Fiver, it was originally thought by our repair service that the side walls were water damaged enough to the point of having to replace them and the floor. The more cost effective cure would have been to build a new box. But as we have gotten...

From a dream to a nightmare: One buyer's story

I'm in no way taking it out on Heartland. I'm simply questioning some of their business practices such as not retaining records and drawings on units they've built at least for the average life expectancy of the product they build and sell. Not retaining records on extreme repairs done by them...

From a dream to a nightmare: One buyer's story

This method is very similar to the one our custom sleeper manufacturer uses on our custom truck. We have it checked every 1-2 years and suspect seals redone. We have only had the LM since the end of Jan, 2013 but plan to have this testing done.

From a dream to a nightmare: One buyer's story

To finish my response as I was called away from the computer earlier to run up to Denver from Roswell today: When one invest as in the case of our LM 70-80K when it is new they do not expect it to fall apart in two years or even seven. One should be able to reasonably expect around ten years...

From a dream to a nightmare: One buyer's story

That was the decision of the owner of the Rv repair company we use, not mine as he felt under the circumstances of a faulty installation of these windows by them they may be willing to take some responsibility in helping with the repairs since it was most likely their workmanship that caused the...

NOTE: I would hope that the moderators and/or administrators of this forum choose not to pull this thread as one might construe that action as an attempt to hide to truth: Back in 2006 Landmark Mount Rushmore Suite Pin #6197 was built at the Heartland factory and shipped to a dealers lot in...

Slides in/slides out surviving the storm

I agree that having the slides in are better and give the wind less to grab or get under and lift the unit. Actually, we just rode out Andrea this week in central Florida where we had broadside gust of 40-50 mph. Other than some serious shaking, no damage to slide toppers with the slides out...

Slides in/slides out surviving the storm

As a newbie to large RV ownership, riding out the tropical storms and hurricanes in Florida are of great concern to us. We'd really hate to loose our fiver in the wind! I've been told by my RV service tech "You always want to pull the slides in during one of these storms to make the unit...

Simular bedroom slide floor as Bull's, except no rot here!

Bedroom slide floor on our 2008 Mount Rushmore has broken completely loose from both end walls of the slide box, and is only attached (barely at that) to the longer side wall of the slide. Yet the plywood floor has had no water damage and is not rotted. I'm told that the screws holding the floor...

    Biggest and Baddest?

Surge protection in place on our part. I believe the dealership we purchased it from may have been the cause when they prepped the unit for delivery but gonna have a hard time proving it. It was working for a while after we took delivery. The compressor went bad.

    Biggest and Baddest?

Needing to have the main roof a/c replaced on our 2008 Mount Rushmore. Original burned up and quit cooling. (remember the Micro/Conv story? LOL). I want to have the biggest and baddest unit known to the RV industry put on as the replacement! We do have the 13500btu a/c heatpump in the bedroom...

Fire on the mountain, my Mount Rushmore that is.

That would be great if it was still in warranty with the builder and appliance maker. The MW is a 2006 model and the MR was built in late 2006 as a 2008 model and first sold new in 2007. Guess this one is on my nickle! What next to break? LOL

Well here we are four weeks to the day that we took delivery of our beautiful MR, only to have it almost burn to the ground this morning. Not a good thing! What started as a routine day, wake up, get dressed , walk the dog, cook breakfast for wife, dog and I. Now all was good until cook the...

Ok, is this idea insane? Lay it on me, good and bad.

OK folks, talked to Mor/ryde today and had a very nice conversation with the gentleman that assisted me. I now know that I have 8K rated Mor/ryde axles that were installed at Mor/ryde (not Las Cruces) on our MR. Apparently, standard axles were put under it temporarily to get it back to Elkhart...
