Port-A-Decks are free standing portable aluminum decks that can be quickly and easily set up for use or folded and stored for transport in a matter of minutes. Perfect for use with fifth wheel RV’s and travel trailers. Would also work well to get on/off toy hauler decks. This is a 36X48 inch...
We just traded in our old trailer which also had the Glowstep Revolution steps. Loved them. While we were moving our belongings from old trailer to the new one, you could tell immediately how much better the Glowsteps are.
I had a spot where I could have taken out a 20 amp single breaker and added a double but I wanted to be able to run all 3 ac units at the same time and not worry about someone using the microwave or hair dryer etc. I installed a box on the frame and use a regular 12 gauge extension cord between...
I installed a 3rd A/C unit in the garage. I used 12-2 with ground (outdoor). I ran the wire underneath along the frame. There was an area below the rear bathroom where the plywood was cut out for the rear sewer drain. From there I ran the wire up inside the wall between the garage and main...
Temp of fabric outside using temp gun is 126. Glass on inside is 101 in full sun at 3pm. Ambient temperature is 98 degrees.
You can see from the first picture below that wherever the fabric is installed over a screen, you see sort of a tiger stripe effect from inside.
I installed the EZ Snap shades. They definitely work for windows like mine. I have single pane windows with the exposed aluminum window frames. The shades reduce the window frame temps by 15 to 20 degrees F. They are fairly easy to install if you follow the instructions.
A couple tips:
-...
I thought about window awnings too. It seems like they would be best unless the sun is at an angle in which case they might not give full coverage. I really just need to buy a big circus tent To cover the whole rig!
Thank you for the info. I hope this stuff works as well. I plan on doing some temp gun comparison tests on the window frames, windows and walls after install to see what kind of difference the shades make.
I ordered the dark material, their website said it was easier to see thru the black. They claim that all 3 of their colors block 90% of the sun’s heating UV rays. Their material comes in 6ft wide rolls.
Anyone using this product to help keep heat out of their trailer? I ordered enough snaps and shade material to do every window on my 5th wheel. Was kind of pricey but so is my full time electric bill in south Texas. I’m hoping this makes a difference. I currently use Reflectix to cover the...
I've gotten way better at being vigilant after the first few times but after my wife got hurt today I decided to do something even if it costs some extra cash. Most pin boxes look like they are designed to do maximum damage upon impact with a careless head.
We live in ours and spend extended time in one spot. While staying long term the Porta Deck with steps are the way to go hands down. If you travel much, the Glow Steps are way easier and more convenient to deal with. Both are quality products, it just depends on how you use your trailer.
The Lippert pin box on my toy hauler is full of sharp angles and sharp edges. As full timers, I've bumped my head on the pin box or king pin several times. My wife smacked her head on the corner of the pin box today requiring a visit to the ER. My search for solutions on the internet didn't...
Cleaning your dishwasher with something that removes lime like CLR or vinegar might help. Contacting the folks that make the dishwasher would be a good idea to see if they can recommend something you could run a wash cycle with.
I believe those are the ones that stow inside the door, correct? I've only seen pictures of them. It's a neat idea, kind of like stairs found on small aircraft.
It took me about 2 hours to remove the old steps and install the new ones. I could have done it quicker but on the first attempt, I had the bolt heads installed backwards which prevented the GlowSteps from rotating into position when stowed. I also was able to complete the installation by myself...
I'm not a big fan of the factory steps that come on most towables. We have a dog with health issues that needs to be carried in and out every 3 or 4 hours. Our fifth wheel came with only 3 steps to go from the 40+ inch door height to the ground. They also had a fair amount of flex. On top of...
Did you get a 6 point system or 4 point? I see several places advertising the Ground Control 3.0 system but it is always a 4 point system. I know the old Ground Control 2.0 was available as a 6 point system but I can't find the 3.0 sold as a 6 point.
Is the Evolution system out yet? I've been wanting a 6pt auto level system but have been waiting for the Evolution to come out to see if it lives up to the hype.
Re: Any advice on replacing sewer Y (3"x3"x2")
I think I would just cut the pipe at both points upstream of the 'Y' with a hack saw and use some ABS couplings and pieces of straight pipe to make things match the original. Your local hardware store should have the extra pieces you need for...
Just curious what type of King antenna you are mounting. I assume it's a satellite antenna. I'd look at the mount and see what the max size of screws you can use. Use stainless steel or corrosion resistant hardware. Also try to use a stud finder with deep scan to try to find some structure to...
Those GlowSteps look awesome. We went with the porta-deck setup and love it. It isn't attached to the trailer so there is no movement or flex while walking up/down the steps. The steps and deck have a rock solid feel when you are on them. The railings on the stairs are a nice feature too. The...
I went to the lowclearances.com website. It says it is compatable with u-connect. I tried to find the instructions to see how this is possible. Has anyone had success downloading this database to their factory tow vehicle with uconnect? If so, how is this done?
I had the same problem on mine. It would only leak if the tank was full. I got a bright flashlight and an inspection mirror to look at the top of the tank. The tank has several plumbing ports at the top. One of the ports was not used and was completely open. I plugged the hole and haven't had...
My gray tank was draining slow so I added some enzyme to it and let it sit for a day. It's draining normal now. I'm thinking about adding one of those tornado tank rinsers to my gray tank.
If you decide on stackables, be sure to measure the entire area first. In our trailer, the washer/dryer area is in a closet in the very front of the 5th wheel (in the front cap). I did not realize that the ceiling at the opening of the closet is taller than at the back. I only realized this...
Thanks for the replays. As far as the weird routing that happens sometimes, I think all the GPS systems do this to some extent. My tow vehicle has built in GPS and it does just fine till you get to a town or city where it will suddenly want to take you off of the main route and through a bunch...
