I had always heard you want to pin slightly forward of the rear axle. This transfers some of the pin weight to the front of the truck and helps with stability since the pin would be between the two axles.
Directly over the axle and you are no longer transferring any weight to the front. This...
If you are not already a member, check out Turbo Diesel Register. They are a site dedicated to all years of the RAM with the CTD. It is a great source of information.
That is odd. I have State Farm and mine is covered no matter where it is.
I wonder if they consider you to be living in it since it is at a seasonal site?
Had my first towing session with the Coopers this weekend. They are smooth, quiet and stable pulling my trailer. Look like they are going to be a great tow tire as well.
After only 19k miles the OEM Firestones were down to where they had to be replaced. I decided to go with the Cooper AT3 to give a bit better off-road performance as I do occasionally go play in the dirt. My truck is a Tradesman with the Chrome package. I went ahead and upgraded to aftermarket...
I have stayed at Fort Amarillo on the west side of town a couple of times. Clean park and and did not have any issues there. It is just off the Interstate and an easy in/out.

Since the eco-boost is a turbo charged engine, it is not effected by altitude like a normally aspirated engine. You will maintain the power output all the way up the mountain. I have an older version of your trailer and the Ford should not have any issues pulling it.
The Ford F150 ecoboost would be a good option and good fuel economy. It has a turbo charged v-6 gas engine.
If you ever plan on upsizing your trailer you might consider a truck with better towing capacity.
I have used cheap tries before. I can only say, don't do it. A set of supposedly 60k mile tires had to be replaced at 15k because they were all worn out. There were no odd wear patterns or outside factors they just did not last. They were very soft and squirmy especially for a Load Range E...
When towing torque is king, it is not about HP. Diesel Engines produce huge amounts of torque at low RPM. This means they can be geared higher and pull heavier loads more efficiently.
That being said, what is your daily commute like? Diesel's do not like short trips where they do not warm...
I have a Garmin Oregon 400T that I use for trails and hiking. Small enough to carry comfortably and a decent size screen. Using external power keeps the battery from draining while trail riding.
I actually prefer to have paper maps and a compass. I use the GPS to spot check I am where I think...
Are you wanting an internal wifi-network/wired and a bridge to the campground network? Which linksys device do you have?
If you have 2 different radios (i.e. 2.4GHz and 5 Ghz) then you can set a SSID on one that is your internal network. The second radio you can set up with the campground...
Turning off SSID broadcast will only slow an attacker down by a couple of seconds. It is not an effective method of security.
For this particular threat, using MAC filtering on your router will not help either. The attacker does not get into your network in the traditional sense. They are...
Garmin has been really good. They replaced my first hand held GPS after it was thrown from my Jeep during a roll over. They replaced it for free even though I told them what happened. They said that since there was not visible marks on the case they would replace it under warranty.
One point on antennas whether it is CB or HAM:
A good well-tuned antenna will make even a mediocre radio work well.
A bad antenna or one that is not tuned correctly will make even the best radio not work and could possibly damage the radio.
If you don't know how to tune an antenna, then...
Line of site is definitely something to keep in mind. That being said, I have carried on simplex conversations with another driver out between Childress and Vernon, TX with a separation of about 10 miles before the signal broke up.
As a FCC licensed HAM, you are held to a higher standard and strict rules of operation. If you violate the published rules the FCC can and will revoke your license, confiscate your equipment and fine you. This is why HAMs police themselves. Unlicensed operation on the HAM bands can result in...
I have a set of Amp steps on my Ram as well. Because they are much lower when unfolded, it is easier for shorter people or people with mobility issues to get into the truck. Mine came with the Mopar Tubular Side steps and my wife had a hard time climbing in. Now it is easy for her.
My mom...
I-30 in Arkansas is rough in several places and has sections under construction between Little Rock and the Texas boarder. We drove it pulling our TT about a month ago. Once you get into Texas it is nice and smooth. It is also a straight shot into Dallas and would be a good way of avoiding...
Inbound rush hour toward downtown Dallas is 6:30AM to 9AM. Outbound is 3:30PM to 7PM. Unless it is Friday, then afternoon rush starts at noon and traffic is bad until 10PM or so.
Currently the State Fair of Texas is going on. The weekend you are talking about is the last one for this year...
You can stay on 75 through downtown Dallas. traffic moves pretty good southbound except during the morning rush hour. 75 turns into I-45 as you pass central Dallas. Stay on 45 until you get to 20. Go west on 20 to 35E.
If it is rush hour then you are pretty much hosed. Even 635 will be...
On modern cars there are hidden vents that allow air movement in and out. They are normally toward the back of the vehicle. By running with re-circulation turned on you are creating a low pressure zone inside the car that could be pulling exhaust fumes in from the outside.
Normally the air...
If you are looking for a 4x4 you may want to consider Amp retractable side steps instead of the tubular steps. My wife had a real problem getting in to my truck with the Mopar rails. They hug the body and make for a climb for a shorter person.
The Amp steps extend from under the truck when...
This is the same process when you replace drum brakes on older cars. They may have auto-adjusters but they need to be set correctly the first time for them to work correctly.
Prior to my trip east from Dallas last week I replaced all of the tires on the trailer with the Good-Year Endurance trailer tires in 205/75R14 LR-D. When I bought it used it already had Marathons of the same size in LR-C. Not knowing their history and since I was going to put well over 2k...
These are OEM on my 2500. While they ride great, wear evenly and are quiet, I will be lucky to get 20k miles out of them. At the 10K mile rotation they were already down 50% on tread depth.
I have not needed new tires on my truck yet but will in the very near future. I used the Michelin A/T 2 on my previous 3500 and was very happy with them. I got 60,000+ miles out of them before they needed to be replaced. They are one of the top 3 for when I have to replace the OEM tires.
Another option would be a gooseneck ball instead of the 5th wheel and replace the pin-box to match. You would have to make sure the trailer would clear the bed sides.
I personally think the part between Las Cruces and the Arizona border is the worst. It's like driving on a treadmill and you swear you pass the same cactus repeatedly.
New shocks will soften the transition over worn shocks but will not stop the lean. A stiffer rear anti-sway bar would help with the lean but may adversely impact the ride quality when empty. Unfortunately unlike the auto racing world I doubt there is a large aftermarket for HD Truck anti-sway...
But your original post said it leaned over and stayed there. Shocks are designed to control momentary impulses. Not long term events.
The sway bars on the axles are what control the long term body roll events. They also provide the force to level the vehicle back out.
Shocks do not...
Shocks do not control body roll, they control bounce and rebound. Body roll is controlled by the sway bars and springs on the front and rear axles.
While I am not saying your shocks are not worn out, that would not cause the symptoms you described. You may want to check the sway bar...
The 275/70R18 that came on my Ram are rated at 3600 lbs. each. From what I have seen looking for replacements, that is about 500 lbs. each more than most E rated tires in alternate sizes. Most of the main tire brands are rated the same for that size tire.
