    Caulk for vertical seams

Hi Everyone, Two years ago the factory recaulked my plastic frontcap to the fiberglass sides and now the caulk is giving up the ghost. I have several feet to recaulk. What would be wrong with using the best GE caulk with silicone? Thanks, Dave

Flex in the Frame by Pin Box

This was my complaint no. 10. Could easily see the sag at the radius of overhang. Compare off and on the truck. Heartland made Lippert repair my frame on '09, 3055 in fall of 2010. Coach was out of warranty but frame wasn't. They replaced about the forward 10 feet of fg after removing the...

Shower door replacement. Do it yourself?

HI, My BH 3055 was delivered in late '08 with a crack in the glass of the shower door. The dealer offered to replace it but that is 40 miles each way and probably some time waiting in the lot. I looked at it closely and it appears that the bed (the wooden box the mattress sits on) has to be...

    Shotgun into Canada

This thread is a little stale but here is the follow-up from my trip to Alaska through Canada with my shotgun. Yes you do need paperwork. Mine was copied from the Canadian govt. site and filled out before I left home (3 copies required). Crossing the border at Sweetgrass, Montana, I gave...

    Water heater bypass valve handle

While trying to stop the leaks on my water heater bypass valve, I ruined the plastic handle. I was unable to find a replacement and now, months later I cannot even find the handle. It was marked "B&B Molders". Their website seems to indicate that they are not retail. Where can I get a...

    Trailair wet bolt kit use

I have about 15,000 miles on my Bighorn. I noticed that the Trailair equalizers had some bad looking scrapes on their sides where they pivot on the hanger. Got the kit from Trailair for about $50 including tax. My helper and I jacked up one side and took off the wheels. All of the plastic...

exterior slide floors raw plywood edges wicking water

I don't know how else to say it. I am away from home, in Palmer, Alaska. This morning my next door neighbor who has a 2011 Bighorn, a 4 slide model about 36 feet long, showed me the edges that are starting to disintegrate. I got some poor photos not sure if I can post them. He says Heartland...

    Battery Charger ????

So, if I am dry camping with my 1000 watt Honda generator, should I use a battery charger or just plug the big cable into the Honda? In my previous campers, the built-in charger was so slow, I had to use an external battery charger. Thanks

    Shotgun into Canada

Hello, I want to take a shotgun to Alaska (bear protection) and I must cross Canada to get there. Has anyone actually done that? I have my Canadian forms filled out but there are several boxes to check regarding the reason for bringing in the firearm. I checked the "in transit" box. Should I...

    Reefer won't cool

I just got word from the repair tech. Cooling unit is bad. Requires replacement. Parts are ordered and will arrive when? Will install and do another 24 hour check "but don't expect to get it back before middle of next week." Well it is only a year and a half old, so the warranty should pay...

    Reefer won't cool

Hi Bill, Yes, I do the same when I can. Unfortunatly my driveway is so steep the trailer can't be leveled there. Just turning on the gas a few hours ahead of time can also help. Anyway, I will probably get the call from the tech in the morning.

    Reefer won't cool

Hi Everyone, Left on a 200 mile trip to the lake last Thursday. Turned the fridge on as usual, expecting it to run fine but it did not. Got to the campground and it read 60 degrees. Got out the manuel, managed to find and check 2 fuses in the electronic panel. Both o.k. The "eyebrow" panel...

    Brakes,tires, is all lost?

Hi All, This is a rant. '09 3055. Has about 6,000 miles and of course almost all on the interstates. Getting ready for a looong trip and pulled right-front wheel to examine brakes and bearings. Plenty of shoe lining there but little pieces of it are chunked out and the drum definitely needs...

Belly skin bulged down about 3 inches. Waste tank sagging?

Today I noticed a big sag in the lower cover of our '09 3055. The bulge was very heavy. I immediately drained the shower tank and the sag was not as much and was not so heavy. So, is the grey tank breaking thru the bottom? Is the tank just supported by straps? Anybody have an idea of what is...

    Cracks in truck tires

Hello, I noticed some time back (months) that all 4 tires on my F-350 have cracks about 1 inch from the wheels, running all the way around the tire. Are these dangerous? The tires ar BF Goodrich Rugged Trail t/a, built 40/04, installed June/05. They have 40,000 miles, about 12,000 to 15,000...

Step by step winterization for 09 3055RL

What?? O.K. I tried to winterize my '09, 3055 today by myself. Everything went "piece of cake" except 1 and 1/2 gallons of my Wal-Mart anti-freeze went right into the hot water heater and out the drain hole. I had followed the instructions I thought. The valve handle position for...

Potty Geyser in Bighorn - thoughts?

Thanks everyone. I suppose the geyser is just normal. I was afraid they had installed the vent pipe too deep into the tank and when the contents covered the pipe's mouth, the loss of venting caused the geyser upon flushing. I'll just be careful!;) Dave

Potty Geyser in Bighorn - thoughts?

Hello all. My first post. Got a '09 3055 Bighorn last December. I haven't had it back to the dealer yet (watchout Holman RV)! We've towed about 3,000 miles. We have a few irritating problems, one of which is particularly interesting: When the black water tank is somewhat filled (but I don't know...
