Not sure what the official name is, but I think it is a device to catch the king pin if you start to pull away and it slips out of the hitch....stopping trailer from crunching truck.

Nope
I just had everything cut out on this amazing machine at Nick Heckendorf's.
Rich heckendorf's son. He has an extra awesome metal shop in Modesto.

I'll try to add the video soon.

It looks like it will bolt to the frame to hold something that will be padlocked in.

Started thinking it was an elevated bed for me Zoe in the cab, but the mounts and tie down don't make sense. So we've moved on to thinking it is for the bed or the bumper....

Ok it's about done so I'll take a break and fill you all in.
The new AMP Resurch Bedstep2 I installed a few weeks ago was way to far forward for my liking. This bracket I made will move the step back 10" from where it was. Now it is right in front of the fender. That's where it should be.
Here's a bunch of pictures for you to figure out what I did.

You seen the cardboard mock up earlier today

Now the steel

This is before. AMP's original mounting point.

This is with my bracket
10" farther back.

I have a few more holes to drill then send it out for powder coating tomorrow morning.

I'm pretty happy with the results

i swear to the NCAA gods that I told Rick it had something to do with your step. I even went back in your posts to try and figure out what you could be doing to your step. I kept thinking it was some kind of platform to extend the size of your step, never thought of creating a new bracket to change its mount point. This was fun!! Keep it up!

You should have taken a guess you would have been close.
Maybe I gave up the answer to soon.
I'll have to come up with a new one.

That torch was cool! Reminded me of our tour of MORryde in 2015. Way cool tools there too.

I like your step mod Jerrod. Nice job of making that step do what you want/need.
