Power cord reel problem

[h=2]Power cord reel cut 2 holes in metal under it[/h]
Never paid much attention to this from the time we bought it. The 2 outside or ends of the cord reel rubbed against the metal under it. Now 2 years later, those same ends have rubbed or cut holes in the metal under it which is essentially a piece of sheet metal that goes from the rear tire towards the rear of coach and wraps up around the outside of unit. Looks like it (the metal) is more/less cosmetic, but what would be the suggestions to repair it? Or at least keep the metal that's there and mod it?

Next time you have to replace a piece of that "J" Wrap due to a blown tire, save a piece and rivet it over the new mouse holes the reel made for you.
