I have a little bowing on a rear wall and was wondering what kind of fasteners were used under the "tape" where the wall panels come together? I know the trailer has an aluminum frame but it doesn't make much sense that they could nail into that. Seems like an easy enough fix. What holds it...
I have a ceiling panel in the master bedroom of our Sundance XLT fifth wheel that is warping and separating from the ceiling. It is the first panel above the top shelf of the headboard. At first I thought the trim piece joining the paneling of the headboard and the ceiling had come loose but...
I couldn't agree more NCC. We live about a hundred miles north of Cincinnati and they did such a great job with our previous trailer repairs, we made our last coach purchase from them. FABULOUS experience all the way around.
I have an idea for a useful project to save my aching back. I would like to rig a pulley and sling system from my garage ceiling that would enable me to easily lift my fifth wheel hitch out of the bed of my truck. Once the hitch is raised off of the bed, I can pull forward and lower it onto a...
I closed the deal earlier this afternoon. :) I will be sure to post my scale readings when I have them. It wouldn't hurt to start a forum documenting actual scale weights for various combinations of truck and trailer models. With so many users on this site, it shouldn't be that difficult to...
You are spot on Jeremy with getting an unloded weight on the front and rear axle. The scale I visited yesterday was not able to do that for me. All they could do was total gross weight. :( I have everything else calculated perfectly except for those axles. I know my king pin weight will come in...
Gotcha. So when trying to see how close you will be to the GVWR for your tow vehicle, you don't use GTWR of the hitch, you use "hitch weight" along with actual gross truck weight keeping in mind that hitch weight can be a variable number based on the actual weight of the loaded trailer. Thanks!
Finally a question I can answer. My Chevy has an 8 foot bed. It is an absolute hog in a parking lot, horrible turning radius, and most of all IT WON'T FIT IN MY GARAGE! We keep our brand new Sundance on a permanent sight during the year. The only time we tow is to take it out to go to the beach...
What exactly does "GTWR of the hitch" mean? Is that the 16,000 pounds that my hitch is rated at? Is this the hitch weight of 1,420 pounds that is in my trailer specs? Is it 25% of my trailer GVWR? Help!
That's what I thought too. I've poured over that Ford document until my eyes were ready to bleed. You have to be really careful not to accept at face value their "Maximum Loaded Trailer Weight" number as it doesn't take into account passengers, fluids, or king pin weight. My formula does...
I am looking at purchasing a used Ford F-250 2WD, V-10, extended cab, short bed. It's in fabulous shape and the deal I have in the works is really reasonable. What I thought I understood about towing specs has been turned upside down. I have never paid attention to published maximum trailer...
Does anyone understand what the GTWR is under "Hitch Information"? Is that what Sundance calls the "Hitch Weight" in their floor plan specifications? Several of the websites I've seen tend to confuse GTWR and GVWR. Can anyone shed some light on this or tell me exactly where to find the GTWR?
I don't remember the thickness that I used when installing my mount in the same place but I did have another mount located on the opposite side of the bathroom in the living room. I simply removed one of the screws from that mount and used the same size for the new one. It worked great! Good...
I had the same problem with our new Sundance earlier this season when hooked up to city water. I could have kicked myself when I found that my brand new hose was kinked in about three different places. The cheap hoses that come in the supply "kits" with new coaches have absolutely no sidewall...
You may want to check your outside shower. Ours is located behind the bathroom sink/vanity. We have had water on the floor in exactly the same place when the shower supply hose was not connected tightly behind the wall. Perhaps there is a seal problem around the outside shower door or it was...
Hi MJR. This is a post I did for somebody several weeks ago. Hope it helps.
Re: TV mount question (tool required)Hi Paul. I know that mount well. It is made by Peerless. Here is a link to it http://www.peerlessmounts.com/dyn/Pr....aspx/sp/7321/. There is an installation link there that will...
Update to original thread.
I dropped my Sundance off at the dealer upon my return from vacation only to find that it worked perfectly for them on both electric and gas. I would feel really embarassed if I hadn't had the same model fridge in my previous trailer. I know this fridge inside and...
We also have a new 2012 Sundance fifth wheeler. A wonderful feature of our coach is a frame mounted slideout for the rear bumper. It extends the rear bumper out several feet to reveal a platform for bikes, coolers, or whatever else you can think of. There is also a post for bungies or ropes...
The rubber bumper caps in my rear bumper are constantly on the verge of falling out on both ends. I have been forced to place duct tape around the ends of my attractive and shiny chrome bumper. There must be a better way that allows for access without having to screw down those caps. Suggestions?
We spent last week in that area and it is beautiful. You all will love it. I do have a word of caution for those of you who are considering approaching from the east on 321 or 73. DON'T!!! Either one of those roads are very narrow in places from that direction with wooded and rocky jut outs...
Well this is a bit disappointing. Our previous Keystone bed coverings wore like iron. I can't help wondering what other things in this coach are a "stage setup".
Does anyone here use an Extang Trifecta tonneau cover and leave it clipped in the forward, folded position while towing their 5th wheel? It looks like there is plenty of clearance. I love my Extang and it would be great to be able to cover the bed and hitch for protection while unhitched.
The bedspread on our new 2012 Sundance 285BH tears everytime we move it or touch the top of it. Absolutely awful quality! I don't think I will ask for a replacement if the quality isn't any better than the original. Has anyone else had a similar experience?
OK Gene. Now you've got me really curious. I didn't see any reference to a reset button in my manual. I will definitely pull the cover again and have a look. I can't say it was terribly hot outside. Infact, we are in a heavily wooded, river front sight. I do love reset buttons though. Thanks!
It's fairly new. I picked it up from the dealer A WEEK AGO SATURDAY! LOL. Gotta hate it when the thing won't even work within a week of delivery. The good news is that it is ice cold this morning on gas.
Thanks John. Fortunately I keep all of my manuals in the trailer for just such an occasion. I poured over both of these manuals before I posted earlier this afternoon. I found the warning NOT to attempt to restart the unit particularly useless while camped in the mountains on a Sunday. We'll...
Thanks all. On gas it seems to be coming back down to temperature slowly but surely. The coils are warm so it's definitely working. Tomorrow morning will tell the tale as to the final operating temp. I guess we'll keep our eye on the propane this week.
I am out for the first trip in our new Sundance 285BH. Our Dometic 2652 fridge works fine on gas. We switched over to electric last night and woke up this morning to a luke warm fridge. The unit is plugged in to a live outlet and all fuses on the circuit board of the controller as well as the...
Hi Paul. I know that mount well. It is made by Peerless. Here is a link to it http://www.peerlessmounts.com/dyn/Products/BrowseProduct.aspx/sp/7321/. There is an installation link there that will help you locate the screws. I finally figured mine out last weekend. You will need a very long 4mm...
I love AWSOME! I'm not sure what's in it but it removes black streaks with one spray and a paper towel. It is lso really cheap. I saw it at Wally World last weekend too.
