Another newbi question to you experienced travelers.
We are planning our first extended trip of about 1,600 miles one way and wonder how you handle scheduling places to stay. I figure each day covered distance will vary depending on roads traffic etc. so figuring where we will be each evening will be difficult. Also, those unexpected side trips to something that looks interesting will throw a schedule off. Do you just go as far as the day allows and around early afternoon try to figure where will be by evening, then search possible RV spots and call for reservations OR, just show up and hope for the best? I am a wimp and don't like driving more than about 6-7 hrs per day, as in leave around 9am, set up camp around 3-4 pm.
