anybody heard about a variable speed inverter a/c roof top unit

Dometic sells a roof top ac unit in Australia that is a variable speed inverter compressor. It allows the unit to start at a low speed greatly reducing the amperage spike at startup, and then ramps up speed to match the ac cooling demand.

wouldn't that solve a lot of problems trying to run roof ac's without huge generators.

anybody heard of that technology coming to the USA?

Sound like the same technology ductless many splits use and much quieter
