Chaco Canyon - Gallo Campground Accessibilty

We have a 33 foot Sundance 5th wheel. Do we want to tow it to this campground mid October 2018? It looks like dirt roads. Someone told me to beware. What insight can you offer and if we do not camp at Gallo, where to stay that is not too far outside the park. Thanks so much!

I would not recommend towing a fiver on the road to Chaco Canyon. We visited there a few years ago and the road back from the highway to the canyon is just a dirt road and very very rough. I keep 80 lbs air in my truck tires and driving 5 to 10 mph we were bouncing sideways on the road. I ended up driving with one set of tires in the sand at the edge of the road. We stayed in Farmington which is about fifty miles from the park and were not sorry. The campground in the canyon is decent but it was mostly tents and small self contained units staying there.

We really enjoyed Chaco Canyon as well as some other sites closer to Farmington.
