Try some point and shoot experimentation to locate the Infrared Sensor on the fireplace. If you make a small "shield" that projects out from the fireplace a little, it may block the unwanted IR signals from your TV remote.
I would phone and WRITE a letter to the fireplace manufacturer, being the smaller of the 2 companies, notifying them of this IR signal conflict. There are just so many sets of IR signal flash codes, and the fireplace manufacturer may be able to switch to a new code set. Maybe they might give you a new fireplace for informing them of this.
