Independent Suspension

Does anyone have experience with IS from someone other than MorRyde? I really wanted the MorRyde IS, but I can't get to Indiana to have it installed. I am in southern California and MorRyde said it can only be installed by the, in Elkhart.

When we travel with our entire zoo, the poor dogs ride in the trailer. I feel bad for them, as I know they are getting bounced around. We have secured crates with lots of padding, so I am sure it is not as bad as it could be. But, if I could make it smoother for them, I would. Plus limiting the force on the trailer itself would probably be pretty beneficial too.

Thanks,

Jeff

Jeff:
Just for something to try on the West Coast, call Henderson's Line-Up in Grant's Pass Oregon (about 60 miles North of the California border on I-5). Years ago, when I first got my rig, they had installations of MorRyde IS listed on their website. They are the premier RV Motorhome and towable alignment specialists on the West Coast. Here is their phone # 800-245-8309. Here is their website: http://www.hendersonslineup.com/

When we had the Western Regional Rally in Canyonville, Oregon in 2012, Henderson's traveled 40 miles to the rally site, gave a presentation, and crawled under, inspected and wrote an evaluation of EVERY truck and trailer there for the rally!!! They went to FMCA Western in Indio, the Quartzsite show, and are going to the National FMCA rally in Georgia. They set up mobile service bays at those rallies.

I like Torsion Axles a lot better that the MR, been around a long time and is proven in heavy duty use such as flat beds and stock trailers. It is fairly similar however but should be available everywhere.

WDK450, You might call Mor/Ryde back and ask them about the company mentioned above, Henderson Line-Up, and see if they are a approved place to install the IS system. On another forum I visit several of the owners have had the IS system installed and swear by them. I believe that the installation can be a little tricky.

I reached out to my Mor/ryde contact and he confirmed that Henderson Lineup is a certified installer of Mor/ryde IS. Good to know one can get this done out west.

Jeff, Mor/ryde told me this was an error made by their CSR. It indeed can be installed outside of Elkhart, IN by certified installers - such as Henderson Lineup.

We also had Center Point Air Ride installed in our unit, what a ride, nothing moves in the unit and easy to install, Lippert was great to deal with.

Jim,

I really appreciate you taking time to confirm with Mor/Ryde. You are another wonderful asset to Heartland and truly make being a Heartland owner a wonderful experience.

Thank you.

I am also looking into up grading to the Lippert Center Point System. Much cheaper and can be serviced by anyone who installs and service Lippert components. MorRyde is limited and expensive. Lippert Center Point system is my preference.

We have had both Centerpoint and now Mor Ryde IS.....in our opinion there is NO comparison. We found little to no change in the way the our Bighorn rode with Centerpoint, no matter how we set the bag pressure...with IS the difference is dramatically better, and there is nothing to adjust. Nothing moves of falls over now.

Jon and KAKA, First price is the issue for the unit but second and foremost is there are no trained service personel other than Elkhart and now what I see is West Coast. Lot of money to install but a long way to get installed and service. Your thoughts please.

Not sure what you mean by service? The only service we know of is an alignment, which is only needed occasionally...we had it done by an authorized location in Ft. Worth. I am sure there are others centers around the country that can install and align. As far as cost, you get what you pay for. Like I said, we tried Centerpoint...it was cheaper, but for us it did not work. Paid for Mor Ryde, and it was even better than ever expected. To us worth EVERY penny!

My service question are the torsion rubber bands that are part of the IS, yearly alignment checks or any other of the phyiscal working parts. I understand they are the best and really want to install but 5K and limited service is a big nut. What happens if you live 800 miles from MorRyde and something with happens?

I have had the IS for 2 years. For repair of shear springs and alignment a competent heavy truck/trailer shop should be able to do it. You also should consider added weight over factory suspension. 5K seams high unless prices have gone up considerably.

The $5k price would include disc brakes...just had it done in December of 2012. Can't remember what just IS cost, but IMO not adding disc brakes would be a mistake. Dave is correct, our alignment was done by a trailer shop...don't think there is any maintenance to the shear spring...just check it regularly...if it tears/cracks excessively then replacement could be done as Dave said at a competent heavy truck/trailer shop. I've also been told by Mor Ryde that it can be DIY with proper tools and mechanical knowledge.

We were told that alignment is not required annually...if I remember correctly, every 3-4 years is adequate unless it gets knocked out by road hazards, etc.

Howdy!

Mor/ryde referred me to talk to Henderson while they were in Quartzite during the big RV show they were at a few years ago. I met and spoke with them and they stated they could install it at thier home location. After that they jurked me around for months, I even spoke with the owner and never got a response so I gave up on them. We fulltime so we made a trip Mor/ryde in Elkheart and they provided us with great service. Good luck with Henderson.
