First, I want to thank everyone for the advice. It really helped me in explaining why the short ramp was such a bad concept.

So we are going to build a ramp 18 ft long, making it a grade of about 11% and see if there is a way to use a frontend loader to hitch to the trailer. That should give me lots more flexibility. I still want to make sure I am not going to damage the trailer. Does anyone know if there is a safe way to use a front end loader to hitch to a fifth wheel? I have seen forklifts move fifth wheel I cant see a front end loader as much of a difference.

I use a forklift to move mine and a loader shouldn't be much different. I think you would have to use the top of the bucket so you could turn it if needed. I have a 3" long by 3" diameter piece of pipe welded to a flat plate I bolt to the forks that I drop the pin into. Used it for 5yr now works good.
