Refrigerator freezing food

Our Norcold refrigerator keeps getting colder and colder even when set on 1. It has frozen just about everything. Has anyone had this problem and what was the fix?

Steve, you did not say what fridge you have. But, look on the fins in the fridge. There should be a sliding (could be called a thermocouple) device that you can move up or down. If I remember correctly. Down is warmer....up is colder. It works independent of the temp control.

Does it do the same thing on AC and on LP operation? There might be a relay that turns on the AC heater that's stuck.

We have a Dometic and it is automatic which means there are no numbers on the front 1,2,3,4,etc. The only temperature control we have is the thermister on the fins. It is a resister that is sensitive to temperatures. As you were told warmer is down and colder is up. Because cold air is heavier the lower part of the fridge is colder. If you want it warmer lower the thermister and it will raise the temps. We've been screwing with this one for two weeks now. The thermister is almost off the fin so we are running out of adjustment. We'll wait until we get back to our dealer to avoid the house call.
