Re: ATF: Landmark - Missing parts

Had you walked through your new LM before you bought it? Were all the now missing parts in place? Sorry this happened to you but I would have been livid. In fact I would have probably walked away from the deal or at least not signed the papers until it was made whole again. Very good advise about calling HL service. In fact I would MAKE your dealer get all the parts from HL....no ifs....buts or excuses.

BTW, was this a unit you ordered?

DITTO !!! totally unacceptable !!!

When I first looked at trailer, the front thermostat and control for the fantastic fan were missing. When I bought the rig, they had been replaced. These same two items were the ones that malfunctioned. Now all three sensors on the two gray tanks and black tank aren't working properly. RV tech working on the trailer said this unit is too new to have all three sensors go out. He thinks it is some type electrical issue. Said he would check with the dealership and let them know what's happening with the trailer. I do trust this guy. Having electrical issues with this unit. Static in both tv's, lights dim and then go bright. There is definitely a ghost in the machine. The unit is the Landmark Key Largo.

This is a case of a service manager stepping on a sales manager. A good sales manager would not participate in cannibalizing a rig on the lot. If I was the sales manager I would offer one of the rigs for sale to the service department for a donor vehicle. One thing that is obvious is that the service department never ordered the parts for the trailer as they took them off, or else they would have them. Additionally the reason they can re-outfit this one is they have no parts in stock, this is the same reason the trailer was cannibalized in the first place.

What I would do different than you, is that I would let them put anything that is an upgrade on the rig. But somehow it would need to be recorded so that you could still get warranty.

I feel your pain, I get on a new vehicle lot and I lose my mind. That is why I order vehicles and try to stay off of car lots. LOL

Personally I think that it is poor customer service to remove parts from one unit to repair others, but not have a system in place to have cannibalized RV whole before it is sold. I do have to take some responsibility for taking passion on a promise that they would take care of everything. We'll see if they keep their promise.

You could call that "an industry standard". Doesn't matter if it is RV's, boats, used cars or new cars.
Sales departments will do whatever it takes to make a sale and the service department is left holding the bag. Any vehicle that has sat on a lot for a year becomes fair game.

Spoke with Heartland and was told that I shouldn't have waited almost two months for a thermostat. Through them it should have been a week, two at the most. If it came through Dometic, it should have been a two day turnaround. When we buy our last (hopefully) trailer, we will research the **** out of the dealer and ask everybody here a bunch of questions.

The dealer sent the parts.....the problem is that two of the three were incorrect!!!! Supposedly, they are now sending the correct parts. We'll see if it happens. I contacted Heartland and LCI for the correct part numbers. Both were excellent in their response. I sent the information to the dealership. My question if I was able to get the information with just a couple of calls why is it such a problem with the supposed "experts?"

It is really too bad the Heartland can't have more say so on how their vehicles are displayed at dealerships. If a dealer finds a defect, let Heartland know instead of stripping out other trailers. This may be a small lesson for some, but it was a big one for. Don't get caught up in what may be a good deal. Go through a trailer thoroughly, even if a salesperson tries to rush you by talking about paperwork. Leave when you are satisfied. If not, find a different dealer.

For those still viewing this thread.....After two months I finally received the missing parts. They sent the wrong ones three different times. I contacted Heartland, who were wonderful to deal with, and got the correct part numbers from them which I forwarded to the dealer. Even tough I was satisfied with my purchase price Guaranty RV in Junction City, Oregon was not a pleasant dealer to work with. Buyer beware!

It finally did work out and we are looking forward to more traveling now. Hopefully, I will be at the Oregon Rally at the Mill Casino RV Park. I am participating in an ALS 65 mile ride in Napa on the 27th and the Levi Gran Fondo on Oct. 4th. I look forward to seeing you and the others in the future.

Now that this matter is resolved, I'm closing the thread. I also moved the 3 posts that were discussing the 2015 Oregon rally to the Oregon rally thread at this link.
