Tunnel at Zion NP

Is the tunnel off limits, pulling a 5th wheel? I assumed you have to drive around to the north or south, which is considerably longer.

Was there yesterday. No 5th wheel. Also, any DRW truck is a $15 fee to use the tunnel. Traffic has to stop one way for wide vehicles to pass with escort.Prohibited VehiclesVehicles over 13 feet 1 inch tall, Semi-trucks, vehicles carrying hazardous materials, vehicles weighing more than 50,000 pounds, single vehicles over 40 feet long, combined vehicles over 50 feet long. All Bicycles. Pedestrians.

If your coming from the east or the south with your rig, I would go to the park from the south on Hwy 9. The only other option is to park your rig at one of the RV parks outside the east entrance and drive your TV thru the east gate into Zion.
There really is no way to come from the north, unless you mean going around the park to the north to I-15 and then coming south and continuing to Hwy 9 as described above. That is a lot longer than taking 89/89A to 389/59 west to 9 north. Trace

I will be coming from Kodachrome Basin. I was looking at 89 north to 20 west to I-15 south. The other longer option is 89 south to Kanab, 89A to 389 to Hurricane. I have since found the NP restrictions that say 50' max combined length and 13' 1" max height.

Hwy 20 is not a great drive IMHO.
I would take the second route you mentioned.
Much more scenic, better road and better, wide open drive. Mostly downhill and I think it's actually just as fast too. Trace

Scott, their is a nice CG in Hurricane called the Willow Winds. Not bad prices and right off the HWY 9 in Hurricane. You could drop the trailer and drive to Zion. BTW, Hurricane is prononced "Hurrican" in Utah and they like it that way.....trust me.

Maybe we should have a Utah chapter rally at Willow Wind RV Park? An RV park closer Zion is the Zion River RV Resort, where we actually did have a Utah chapter rally.
