Just a quick note on the portable Generators/EMS problem. This is a case of conflicting electrical codes. The codes pertaining to portable generators stipulate that the ground NOT be connected to the neutral (for a long-winded technical reason); but the electrical code for RV's require that the external (usually shorepower) power supplied to the RV have the neutral and ground bonded at the service pedestal. Thus the need for a pigtail cord to connect the neutral and ground between the portable generator and the EMS equipped RV. Or put the EMS in bypass mode. The cheaper, non-inverter type generators, are probably going to have line frequency variations that are going to constantly trip the EMS, anyways.
