Fifth Wheel pin placement! Over axle or in front of???

I had always heard you want to pin slightly forward of the rear axle. This transfers some of the pin weight to the front of the truck and helps with stability since the pin would be between the two axles. Directly over the axle and you are no longer transferring any weight to the front. This...

    04 3500 Cummins

If you are not already a member, check out Turbo Diesel Register. They are a site dedicated to all years of the RAM with the CTD. It is a great source of information.

Comprehensive Insurance for TT While On site

That is odd. I have State Farm and mine is covered no matter where it is. I wonder if they consider you to be living in it since it is at a seasonal site?

Vision Warrior Wheels and Cooper Discoverer AT-3

Had my first towing session with the Coopers this weekend. They are smooth, quiet and stable pulling my trailer. Look like they are going to be a great tow tire as well.

Vision Warrior Wheels and Cooper Discoverer AT-3

After only 19k miles the OEM Firestones were down to where they had to be replaced. I decided to go with the Cooper AT3 to give a bit better off-road performance as I do occasionally go play in the dirt. My truck is a Tradesman with the Chrome package. I went ahead and upgraded to aftermarket...

    Amarillo TX RV park recommendation

I have stayed at Fort Amarillo on the west side of town a couple of times. Clean park and and did not have any issues there. It is just off the Interstate and an easy in/out. http://fortrvparks.com/

F-150 with 3.5L eco boost V6 for a travel trailer TV

Since the eco-boost is a turbo charged engine, it is not effected by altitude like a normally aspirated engine. You will maintain the power output all the way up the mountain. I have an older version of your trailer and the Ford should not have any issues pulling it.

New TV for an Edge M18

The Ford F150 ecoboost would be a good option and good fuel economy. It has a turbo charged v-6 gas engine. If you ever plan on upsizing your trailer you might consider a truck with better towing capacity.

    New Tires for Truck

I have used cheap tries before. I can only say, don't do it. A set of supposedly 60k mile tires had to be replaced at 15k because they were all worn out. There were no odd wear patterns or outside factors they just did not last. They were very soft and squirmy especially for a Load Range E...

New Heartland owner - now new truck...advice?

When towing torque is king, it is not about HP. Diesel Engines produce huge amounts of torque at low RPM. This means they can be geared higher and pull heavier loads more efficiently. That being said, what is your daily commute like? Diesel's do not like short trips where they do not warm...

Handheld GPS or Smartphone for off-roading

I have a Garmin Oregon 400T that I use for trails and hiking. Small enough to carry comfortably and a decent size screen. Using external power keeps the battery from draining while trail riding. I actually prefer to have paper maps and a compass. I use the GPS to spot check I am where I think...

    Using DD-WRT as a wifi hub/booster

Are you wanting an internal wifi-network/wired and a bridge to the campground network? Which linksys device do you have? If you have 2 different radios (i.e. 2.4GHz and 5 Ghz) then you can set a SSID on one that is your internal network. The second radio you can set up with the campground...

    WiFi Security Exposure

Turning off SSID broadcast will only slow an attacker down by a couple of seconds. It is not an effective method of security. For this particular threat, using MAC filtering on your router will not help either. The attacker does not get into your network in the traditional sense. They are...

What GPS do you use and would you recomend purchasing it?

Garmin has been really good. They replaced my first hand held GPS after it was thrown from my Jeep during a roll over. They replaced it for free even though I told them what happened. They said that since there was not visible marks on the case they would replace it under warranty.
