Prospective Owner Questions about purchasing Big Horn 3455RL

Jerry, we have a 3385RL and I pulled it for almost 2 years with a shortbed Ford so my answer to your first question would be no, you do not need a slider hitch. The GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) on my 3385 is 14,000 lbs. The CGWR (combined gross weight rating)for my Ford was only 20,000...

ATF: Bighorn - Bedroom slide on 3385RL BH

Thanks Bill, that's good info to have. It still doesn't tell me where the motor is so I have to conclude it's under the forward part of the bed. Access would involve moving the matress down and removing the plywood cover. I have the adjustment rod in my owner's packet. Hope I never have a...

    Help with new Big Horn

When backing, try to back over your left shoulder. That way you can see your trailer wheels. If you have to back over your right shoulder you'll need some help. We've all been there. You'll get the hang of it.

ATF: Bighorn - Bedroom slide on 3385RL BH

Ray, I'm not worried about getting stuck in the bedroom. That was just a thought. My main reason for this post is to find out how to manually override the electric motor for the slide. The 2 LR slides are hydrolic and the manual override is there at the hydrolic motor but the bedroom slide is...

ATF: Bighorn - Bedroom slide on 3385RL BH

Jim, This is a 2009 3385RL. There is no door to the bathroom from the bedroom. This is no big deal and will probably never happen, but I was thinking what would I do if me and my wife were in the bedroom and the slide came in. The only way out is thru the emer exit. I know Heartland does not...

ATF: Bighorn - Bedroom slide on 3385RL BH

I want to know how to manually operate the bedroom slide in case it failed to retract. It's electric and I think the motor is under the bed. I'm sure you are aware that if someone was in the bedroom and the slide was retracted, the only way out would be thru the emer exit window. Maybe I'm...

Back Pain - need help for the truck seat.

I appreciate all your replies. The back is getting a little better, guess the PT is helping. Also, we just replaced our mattress and boy can I tell a difference. I'll know more when we travel this weekend. Thanks Larry & Gail Neal Full Timers 2009 BH 3385RL 2007 Chevy Duramax/Allsion Dually

Biting the bullet - going full time!

We too are fulltimers for 8 months now. We spent last winter in Florida at Southern Palms RV Resort - loved it. We're going back this year. Although the temp got below freezing a couple of nights I think the most important thing is the park activities and this park has loads. The cost is...

Back Pain - need help for the truck seat.

I'm 65 years old and had back surgery 10 years ago. Now the back is acting up again. I've tried phy therapy with little help. Probably looking at more surgery down the road. What I'm asking is, has anyone added something to their truck seat that helps with back pain? I've seen those "wood...

We have suddenly started getting the E1 message on our frig. The manual says this has something to do with the gas sys. We turn it off and back on and it's ok for a while. Has anyone ever delt with this, and if so, what was the solution? Larry & Gail Neal 2009 BH 3385RL 2007 Chevy...

    Screen Door Opener without sliding.

Just wanted to bring everyone up to date on this thread. I received the part but it was not the right size. My door is 12" not 9 3/4. I called Heartland back with my vin # and was told that this opener was not available for my unit. However I don't think that is correct because I have seen...

    Screen Door Opener without sliding.

Hey folks I have seen at some of the shows a new opener for the screen door. This thing is inserted int o the sliding panel and all you do is push down from the inside and a lever contacts the latch on the outside. I saw this on some new Heartland units. I called Heartland Service Dept. but...

    water on bathroom floor

We had this very problem. Turns out it was the water connections to the shower. They must have loosened during travel. I just took the access door off the back of the shower and reached in and tightened them. Problem solved.

    Shower valve leaking.

This has been driving me nuts. I am getting a puddle of water behind the camode. It has to be coming from the camode or the shower. Well it was pretty easy to rule out the camode. I saw a little water coming out from the shower where the glass meet the base so I sealed it. Thought I had it...

Thanks for your reply but it was not the cabinet door that broke, it was the vertical wood looking surround on the slide.

    Can't believe I did this.

Alright folks I need some advice. I have a 3385 BH, fireplace and TV in the small slide on the curb side. We've been loading the trailer for our trip to Florida and somehow a kitchen cabinet door was left open. This morning when I put the slide out it caught the door knob and broke the edge...

    Lippert DOES Care

Well I'm glad to hear some people have a good experience with Lippert but, sorry to say, I'm not one of them. I had to replace the landing gear motor about the time the warranty expired. I called Lippert and they said they would pay for the part but not the labor. Fair enough, for after all...

    Curt Q5 20k hitch

We've had the Curt Q5 20k hitch for a year now and really like it. What I like most is the fact that you can lock the arm in place and you don't have to worry about it coming unhitched. What I don't like is you really have to approach your pin just right or it won't hitch but it's well worth...

Narrowed it down to one of 2 units. What are your thoughts

Big Horn Steve, My wife and I purchased a new Big Horn in June of this year. We had 2 units in mind and we looked, researched and compared for a long time. One was the 3355 Big Country and the other was the 3385 Big Horn. The Big Horn is a step up from the Big Country and obviously cost a...

    Question on tow ratings

I'm sure someone can answer this. I pull with a 2002 F250 7.3 PS. The tow charts tell me it's rated at 13000 lbs fifthwheel towing. About 2005 the rating went up to over 15000. I see no difference in the trucks. Did Ford change their rating to match Chevy or did they actually make a change...

I pull a 3385 BH with my F250 HD 7.3 Diesel. This trailer is 11300 dry and the hitch weight is around 2000. The truck was doing pretty good but I had talked to other campers who pulled similar rigs and some of them had installed air bags so I thought that would help. I suggested it to my...

Poll: If in the Market, Would You Buy Another Heartland
