We are having trouble with the batteries and or charging system or electrical system Our batteries on our Road Warrior won't stay charged. Batteries show that they are being charged while connected. When we disconnect from the truck the panel reads, they are charged. Within a few hours they are in red. We don't have enough battery power to run the heater, refrigerator, smoke detectors, LP gas monitor, etc. through the night so we wake up freezing and our food is getting hot. We turn off the water pump and water heater at night hoping that we will have enough juice to run the refrigerator and heater.
This last time we ran the generator for 9 hours straight and had a battery charger on and after 9 hours of charging they only stayed charged for 1 1/2 hours. We have used the coach 4 times and it has happened every time. We returned it to the dealer for service and they say nothing is wrong... Batteries are good. This time they said that we need to go to a 2- 6 volt battery system because they will hold a charge longer because we dry camp. When Heartland designed this coach, I'm sure they took into consideration that toy haulers are used more often to dry camp with then the non-toy hauler models. We are also having a Heater/ thermostat issue. The heater/blower motor is not turning off for hours and the gas is firing up every 4 to 6 minutes and then turning off again and repeating the process over again 15 times in 40 minutes. We are using 7 gallons of propane in 2 days. There are also times when the heater is off and never will turn on as well and the generator is running so there is power. It will be 15 degrees under the desired temp and you have to move the slider bar on the temp gage until you hear it click and then it will start. Is this related to the battery issue too? Or is this a separate issue? Any insight to this very frustrating problem would be appreciated. Please respond as quickly as possible so we can let the shop know!
