Test drove a new Ford, WOW is all I can say! Oh trading in my 2005 F-250 6.0 49,500 miles and ordered the new one a couple days ago. Not because I had any problems with it, none at all, just couldn't resist. What a truck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations on the new truck. I just traded my 04 F250 6.0 powered truck 3 weeks ago. F350 Lariat CC SB FX4 with the 6.7 engine. 3800 miles and still smiling big. It just gets stronger and more fuel efficient every mile.

Congrats on your new truck. We just purchased a 2011 F350 with the new diesel. I agree WOW! You will like the additional horse power and torque. Also so quiet.

Wow; Isn't that quite high gears for towing !! What does that put your towing capacity at ??

Ford 2011 brochure says F250 w 3.31 axle ratio, maximum loaded trailer weight on 5th wheels:

F250 4X4 Short bed = 15700 lbs 5th wheel towing weight
Maximum Payload weight for crew cab
GVWR 10000 lbs configuration = 2430 lbs payload (passengers, pin, fuel)

F250 4X4 Long bed crew = 15700 lbs 5th wheel towing weight
GVWR 10000 lbs configuration = 2210 lbs payload

F350's single rear wheel 4X4 are 15800 lbs trailer weight, not much difference
Payloads are quite different, 1300 lbs to 1500 lbs increase over the F250.

My 2011 F350 is a crew cab, 4x4, dually and has 3:73 rear axle ratio. 5th wheel towing capacity is 20,300 and GCWR is 29,000 lbs. I als had the optional factory installed 5th wheel/gooseneck trailer tow prep.

I also went with the 5th wheel prep and bought the Reese elite hitch from eTrailer. I saved big over the exact same hitch from Ford and I can live without the "Custom Ford Accessory" decal on the hitch. Installs in less than 30 seconds!

I have pulled my 3055RL over 3500 miles with my new truck. It is a 2011 F350 SRW CC SB FX4 6.7 diesel with 3.55 gears. After 6800 miles the empty mileage is around 20, Towing the Big Horn at 65 mph gets me 12 mpg. Engine turns a little over 1500 rpm in 6th gear at 70 mph. The new 6 speed auto transmission is unbelievable. The Big Horn weighs just under 13000 ready to go. The truck is so strong that it will pass multiple cars pulling the trailer like it is not there. I bought my truck off the lot because I needed it to get me back home. After all I have driven, if I was going to order one now, I would definitely get the 3.30 gears.

There is a rumor running around that GM may be tapped out at 397 hp. Block design issues. I am not saying anything negative about it and I am not trying to start a brand war. It does seem strange that GM stopped at 397 when it would have been so sweet to be the first to 400. It would be prudent to stop there if they know it is about all they can get and maintain the excellent reliability record they enjoy. I know nothing about the Dodge and it's capabilities but they do make some serious hp when hopped up.
