Best Hitch?

Hello all again, I have finalized the build for a 3010 RE would really like the hitch to be part of the deal. The trailer will have the Moryde pin box, but what is the best hitch? Is there a good match for the Moryde to keep chucking to a minimum. I have 12 Ram 3500 Mega Cab SRW. Most folks are saying a slide is not needed with the Bighorn, any additional thoughts.

Thanks for all of the great advice, it has really helped me to order a great trailer.

The mega Cab has a pretty short box if memory serves me right, I would look into that carefully (possibly a slider). Maybe the Dodge dealer or a hitch specialist in your area might know.

I would get a Super Glide not much more than a plain hitch and it's the best. I have one in my Ram CC and really like it. Dodge has the shortest cab to axle spacing of the big three. There are a couple variations of the hitch. I bought the one that uses standard bed rails as it was the least expensive option and when I'm done with it I can use it in any truck with standard bed rails. About the last place I would buy it would be from a dealer. They have a habit of marking them up quite a bit. Shop the internet for prices. Tweedys RV is a good place to start....Don

Got my 20K Reese from etrailer.com. They sell many brands. Mine included free shipping (a big bonus with the weight we're talking about). Took my son and I a half day to install it.

X2 on etrailer.com. Bought everything from them and had the local welding/hitch shop install.

Dodges short box is the same with any cab, just looks really short on the mega cab, with that said i would say a slider is not needed, can almost get 90* with a sb dodge and no slider

Correct for Ram HD series, The Dodge Ram 1500 has the short box of 5'-7" or reg. 6'-4", long 8'. I'd say a slider is not needed on the 6'-4".

Yes i should have stated HD but all 02-08 1/2 tons and 03-09 HD share the same beds, its only the new (4th gen) 1/2 ton with the shorter short bed

I have an '06 Mega and didn't think twice about it.... Bought a Superglide at the same time as the trailer and had it installed BEFORE picking up the trailer...

Considering how much I've got invested between cost of truck and trailer, the Superglide *almost* guarantees that I won't have cab/trailer contact. Only thing I had to do extra was get the trailer suspension flipped and pin box lowered to fit the height of my truck. My Superglide has the under bed mounting options; remove the hitch by pulling 4 pins. Clean truck bed when removed.

Automatic, worry free. Works every time and I don't ever think about "Did I flip the slider switch?" "Do I have enough room for this turn?"

Thanks for all the help with the hitch question! I have a little more time deciding. I officially ordered the 3010 today and plan on driving to Indiana to pick it up, that should be a good enough shake down cruise! Plan on having the hitch installed at a hitch place, not the dealer. Searching for comments on installers now, anyone? I heard about Dan's Hitch in Elkhart.

Thanks for everything truly the forum is most valuable in deciding many aspects of my trailer.

I've heard good things about Dually Depot in Elkhart. When do you plan to come to Elkhart to pick it up?
