Looking for a couple week stay outside of the park
Maybe around Terlingua or some where close to the park.
We have stayed at Rio Granda Village and CottonWood both nice in there own way.
Anyone have any experience at a safe comfortable RV park
ThankDan

Davis Mountains State Park at Ft Davis is great but a little bit of a drive from Big Bend

Davis Mountains St Park is too far away, Nice park have been there, staying at The Lost Alaskan in Alpine now, great RV park.
Want something closer to Big Bend for next year looking into The Stillwell Ranch.
Thanks
Dan

Maverick Ranch RV Park in Lajitas. Nice place for visiting Big Bend Ranch SP. Starlight Theatre in Terlingua is a must for dinner. BTW, there is a lot to do outside BBNP. The drive along Hwy 170 west of Lajitas is probably one of the most scenic drives in Texas. The "Closed Canyon" is a true slot canyon and is an easy 1/4 hike from the parking area to the mouth.

I will concur with scottyb, as we stayed at Maverick Ranch in Lajitas last weekend. The views from our slot were magnificent. It is off season now, so there were plenty of slots as the snowbirders have vacated to avoid the heat. From this campground we were able to drive through all of Big Bend National Park and do the scenic drive on 170. One of the Top Five scenic drives in the Nation according to National Geographic. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Did a horseback ride and shooting on their range. Staying at the RV Camp allows you to use all the resort features even the golf course.

We just returned from the Big Ben area. Stayed at Maverick Ranch in Lajitas. It was a great place to stay and made getting to the National Park and the State Park an easy drive.

Looks like a cool area . . .

Might just have to put this on our list of places to visit!

We stayed at the lost Alaskan, and it's definitely not a fancy place, but it was just fine. Good starting place to the whole area, and the only gas station open right now in that area is right next door. We were there in February, and we would definitely go back. Amazing area
Who knew South Texas and big mountains.

More like WEST TEXAS.

I would recommend Marathon Motel and RV Park. This and the state park in Fort Davis are the best two places in the area. There are other places closer to the park, but they are not as nice. You can dry camp in the park. The town Marathon is an interesting place and about 60 miles from the north entrance to the park.

Haven't stayed there yet, but Maverick Ranch is a Passport America park, which means PA members get half off regular rate for unlimited length stays May-Aug. The park is also part of the Lajitas Resort so there are lots of amenities including a golf course (which I played).
