For those who know Dave and Pat Hole, he is now home and doing much better. He is able to take phone calls from any who wish to call. If you don't have his number, let me know and I can give it to you.

We arrived at Fairview RV Park this afternoon. This is an OK place for a night or two layover, but will not be a future rally location. It does put us near lots of nice places to eat and explore before we head south for the rally.

Rally Info Update

Henderson's Lineup will be at the Mill at about 2:30 on Thursday to set up for rig weighing. The caravan should pull in at about that time as well. People from the caravan who plan to be weighed need to pull into the gravel lot across from the office to wait in line. You can check into the park while you wait and get your site assignment. Remember that I have no control over what site you get.

After the weighings are finished, Henderson's will do a presentation at the Yurt about some of the products and services they provide including some they just learned about last winter in Quartzite. They are one of the best installers of suspension related products on the west coast and people come from all around to have them do work. Mark and I have had them do several things for us as have several others in the club. IF time permits, they may be able to do a FEW suspension inspections. I won't know more about that until that day. I am sure they will not have time to look at every rig as they have in the past.

Actual rally check-in will start at noon on Friday in site 26. Bring your chairs and help us greet people as they check in. Some snacks and drinks will be available. A volunteer sign-up will be available as well so we make sure all of the rally chores like setups and clean ups happen as quickly and painlessly as possible. I know everyone likes to help get stuff done so we can all play more. LOL

Breakfast Sunday will not be catered, but it will be good! LOL More on that later.

I'm thinking that the club will be in the position to take on a charity this year like some of the other state rallies do around the country. Dogs For The Deaf is the one I have chosen for this year. One special prize will be auctioned off and the proceeds will be donated to Dogs For The Deaf. You may want to look them up in advance if you have never heard of them. Their headquarters is in Central Point, Oregon. Basically, they rescue dogs and train them to assist hearing impaired people, and more recently, autistic people, at no charge to the recipients. You may have read about them in the Good Sam magazine as they are one of the charities Good Sam supports. I think what they do is valuable, amazing (I have watched a little of their training in progress), and fitting for us since they are a national organization based in Oregon.

Take Care and see you all soon!

Kristy, LOVE the idea of a local charity....especially Dogs for the Deaf!!! :) It is an amazing program that benefits both the dogs and the recipients.

Had an AWESOME time at the WA chapter rally. Great to reconnect with folks and meet new friends!! Then the "convoy" from Monitor to Gresham was quite a sight! As we were driving along the Columbia River on Hwy. 84, I was thinking about the pioneers on the Oregon Trail and what they would have thought of our "wagon train"!!! (I'll take my "wagon" over one of theirs...I'm a wimp!")

Looking forward to the OR Rally and the cool temps.!

Kristy,

I would like to mirror Doug's statement about loving the charity for the Dogs for the Deaf!! We are really looking forward to another great Rally that you and Mark always put on!

Thanks. Dogs for the Deaf is a great charity. Those who know us know how we feel about animals and dogs in particular, so rescuing dogs and training them to do good things for deserving people is a wonderful thing.

And Away We Go!

Just a couple more to arrive today.

Check in at Noon in site 26. Bring your chairs and help us welcome all the "rally Virgins" we have this year. There will be snacks and some beverages.

Dinner tonight at Daves Pizza. Shuttle will leave at 5:15. It will hold 24 people. We can make two trips or people can carpool as well.

Sutton RV will be rolling in two Landmarks today unless one of them sold yesterday. People were seriously looking at it.

Jim and Nancy Beletti will be around.

Campfire in site 26 after dinner.

If you you need ideas of things to do, just ask. Lots of us have been here before and one couple live just down the road at Bandon.. Talk to Jerry and Debbie Earls.

Time to Rally!

Henderson Line Up put on a very informative seminar yesterday afternoon here at the Oregon rally. Always appreciate Henderson as they are great supporters of our club.

A first time rally attendee couple (forgot the names - sorry) arranged for the casino shuttle to take us to the Stillwagon Distillery for a tour. They make rum. It's a teeny place, not bigger than a large garage. They make small batches and have been in production for two years now. They sell their rum in the WA/OR coastal area.

The owner was real personable and answered all questions. After the tour, he let us taste everything. And by everything, there must have been 8 different rums. Several of us bought a bottle. I bought a bottle of the Black Spiced Rum to share at the rally campfires. We put a hurt on it at tonight's campfire, draining about half of it :)

Kristy and Mark arranged a no-host pizza outing at a local place. I only took two pictures. Pizza was really good.

Jim Miner took a bunch of pics and put them on the Heartland Friends Facebook page (link).

We had a great campfire tonight over at the rally "social site" (26). Four people brought their propane campfire pits. Very warm, no embers and no smoke :)

There was some excitement (Deb Kramer :)) I'll wait for Jim Miner to post pics :)

Some of the affects of the rum can be seen in the photo of Rod and this one of our puppy, Harry. Deb Kramer got out the hair colors and had some fun at Mark's suggestion. Mark is not allowed to drink rum ever again. Deb's colors will be confiscated in the morning when she isn't looking. I know I couldn't get them away from her while she was paying attention. LOL
