Heading to Charlston SC From Upstate NY

I want to take I-81 to I-66 to 234 and down to I-95, Has anyone taken this route to bypass Washington DC? I went thru there a few years back taking I-95 in just a car and hated it. I am just looking for a way to get around DC without all that traffic. I will be towing a 34TSRE, All new to me and panic at the thought of going thru there. Any Help?

I personally take 81 below Winchester, Va, then take Intersrate 66 East to US Rt 17 South to 95.

Has worked great for many years. There are lots of options to avoid DC, using any of them works!

Rt 17 is the way to go it meets I-95 at about the 126 MM in Fredericksburg, Va.

Thanks for the reply, I have been that way a couple of times by truck, we always stopped in Winchester for the night as it is half way for us. As I remember 17 is a good road, I think you just made up my mind for me. We are going to Summerville SC for Thanksgiving and then to Arkansas for th rest of the Winter, Fort Smith Area, have a son in that area Mulberry AR. and a brother in Coal Hill.

Traveled 17 in May returning to RI from Florida, great road so I would also recommend it.
