Maintenance on electric awning motor and other hardware

Is there anything I should be doing in the way of maintenance? I am not speaking of the awning itself.

Is the motor in the awning?

The motor is at the forward end of the roller tube and there is no maintenance on it that I know of. Do you have the instruction manual for it? If the motor craps out with the awning extended, there is a one-time emergency procedure to roll it back up. And then you need to get it repaired. Fortunately, when mine died, it was in the retracted position and would not extend.
