Need a new power converter?

I just got a 2016 Mallard M27. It has a 55 amp 12 volt power converter. It has 1
group 24 battery. I'm looking to increase my battery capacity to be able to run
cpap machine when not plugged in. I'm leaning towards 2 group 31 deep cycle
12 v batteries. Will I need to change my battery charger? I assume the power
converter is the battery charger.

Thanks.

Being you just interested in running your cpap machine which has such a small current draw, I feel you will be OK with your present converter. If you have intensions of running items with a larger draw, I would study changing up to an 80 amp converter so your batteries would get recharged faster. This was a problem that developed awhile back with the Cedar Creek coaches with residential refers. They did not upgrade their converters to 80 amp units and with the two deep cycle 12 volt batteries they developed problems because of the large current draw of the refer units drawing on the inverters that developed the 110 volt current for the refers.
