Noisy Slides

No one has mentioned the rollers underneath the slide. I had one riding over another one after about a year of use. The whole slide moved for some reason and they apparently put them too close together. There are rollers attached to the room and rollers that are attached to the floor.

After a lot of trouble I got the one attached to the slide off/out and everything go quiet again.....well within reason. In order to see it you're going to have to take off the trim in the kitchen area and move the couch.....of course that's my model (3010).

My point here is you have looked outside for the source of the noise....look inside too.

Mine have always popped a little. I think its the seals pulling away for the side of the opening.

Did you lube the little gear shafts with anything?? Its hard to get lube in the gear shaft itself. I just use WD40 when they squeak.

Keep in mind that WD40 is not a lubricant.

Does anybodys slides pop when they first start to move going in or out. Mine will make like a pop or a banging sound when first starting to move and then they move smoothly. When I first got the unit the main slide on the kitchen with refrigerator wouldn't come in all the way and would go out crooked. The dealership fix that problem but now I'm nervous every time I extend or retract a slides.

The pop sound might be the slide raising slightly. Remember the slide lowers at the very last to make the floor flat. It has to raise slightly to go in. Just be sure nothing is stuck under the slide. If not then it should be fine. It sounds like initially your slide was out of adjustment and your dealer too care of that.

Bob mentioned WD 40. After going through all this. I have read and reread. What Lippert says in their manuals is to use Mobil 1 10w-30 in a oil can of some type. They actually show where to lube.Whoever put all the manuals and pictures together, I thank them Has been a big help. Dave.

Noisy Slides? At least yours work!! On 2015 Big Horn 3875FB, bought in late March my slides would not come in recently. After playing with it finally got them closed. The living room/kitchen slides were the worst. Sometime the fridge slide goes first and then the other second and then they will go at the same time? Does anyone know the correct order. I talked to Jamie in customer service at Heartland and he thought might be the batteries are weak? All had about 13.25volts but thats is not load tested. Any advice or ideas or knowledge is appreciated. Do I need to go to Lippert? My dealer is 350 miles away and do not trust or like them. Dave

Hi Dave, because the slide rams are all in parallel, the fluid goes to the path of least resistance. Usually the bedroom slide will go first because it has the least resistance, the the others follow as the fluid is distributed to the rams. It would not be unusual for one of the big ones to move partially then the other might move partially until all are finally extended. Sounds like yours are working normally. Hope this helps.

Hey Lynn, Thanks for comment. My Big Horn has three slides, the kitchen/living room,(two) and then the bedroom. The Bedroom I believe is electric with cables. The other are hydrlic and my pump is in the front. Sometime the two go out at sametime and then the side the fridge is one will go first then the other. Coming in sometime together. Must be female with mind of its own? I finally got mine to work by replacing a 50 amp 12 volt circuit breaker. Just now putting back together. I am 75 miles from closest dealer and 350 miles from where I bought it. I have had fairly good luck with Jamie and Scott in Heartland customer service and the forums here are fantastic. Since you live in Oklahoma, do you go to the rallies? I am going to Bullard,TX in October and then see there is one in Durant following week. Hope to meet you sometime. If you get close, I have hookups here. Take care. Dave How does the Splendide work? Have a spot but storage now.

Hi Dave, glad you got things repaired. We went to the Spring rally and it was really nice. We hope to go to more in the future. The Durant Venue is fantastic. Really nice facilities and there is a nice casino adjacent to the park. We really like the Spendide. I installed it myself after buying at PPL in Houston. Hope to see you down the road and thanks for the hookup offer.

Lynn
