So just how do you take these wheel caps off. I pryed gently on the center which appeared to be a point of removal however it didnt release. Before i get the bigger hammer out, clue me in on how to get the cap off to inspect inside the cap.

Keep doing what your doing... carefully and it should pop off. Or you could take the wheel off and slip the entire unit out the back. I removed mine and they sit in the garage collecting dust and other stuff. I like being able to touch the hub when traveling. They are strictly cosmetic, they do look good.

I took a 1" putty knife, slipped it in the joint and tapped it into the joint. Do that in a couple places around the cap. The cap will pop out. Mine are plastic. Be careful with yours.

The 2" center of the hub cover can be removed by prying with 2 properly sized screwdrivers. The 3 1/2" larger hub cover can be removed by removing the wheel/ lugs.
