In rereading your post, I believe you have the batteries connected in series, not parallel. This will mean 24 volts DC. I think they should be in parallel for 12 volts DC. Instead of using both batteries, try getting your system to work with one battery and get back.

Fordman, this is just my opinion. HL puts so many fixtures in their/our units that I would not purchase just in case bulbs. Wait until they burn out and then do your search. Who knows, by the time you need them, technology may have zoomed to something even more high tech... or the price...
