You may have to trace the line up to the duct work. Sometimes if the penetration into the duct is too large or intrusive it has the opposite affect and the air glides around and over it instead of going into the duct. This may require removing a few panels in the loft area to get to the duct trimming the split down and reinstalling. Test it first with an air flow meter to see how you are doing.
