    antenna

The Wingman attaches to the bottom of the Winegard antenna, so you do not need to replace anything if you have a Winegard--just purchase the Wingman. The new antenna, with the batwing built-in, may work a little better since there is a better connection between the two antennas but I haven't...

    direct tv set up help

With a little practice it is not too hard to set up the Directv antenna. We have a HD DVR, and I make sure that the antenna mast is perfectly plumb, then set my azimuth and elevation so it is close, set the skew, and tune to satellite 101 for the strength. After that it is just fine tuning for...

2011 Big Country King pin Height for level ride with 2011 F350

Re: 2011 F350 Truck bed too high for a 5ver I would think you would be a little nose high with your setup. My truck sides are lower than yours even if you didn't have a lift, and mine was nose high. Have you checked to see if you spring hangers have adjusting holes? Mine did, so I just dropped...

Cabela's Friends and Family Weekend Nov 19-21

I really like Cabelas, and shop there when I travel and happen to find one. Unfortunately, they have no retail stores in the whole SE. We spent the day (and a lot of money) at the new Hamburg, PA store in May. Can the F&F discount be used with an online order?

    Balancing Tires

I agree that it is best to have the tires and wheels balanced. Even a minor out of balance tire has to vibrate, and that has to affect many components of the trailer. I had my original Trail America tires and my replacement Goodyears balanced and the shop said"we never balance trailer tires". I...

    Looking for info on Cabela's/PA

The store in Hamburg is really nice. We stopped and spent most of a day there in May. I do wish that Cabela's would open some stores in the SE though! I do order out of their catalogs and online, but it's nice to see and touch some merchandise before buying.

    Question on TriCare Coverage

I'm interested in following this thread too. I'm covered through my wife's policy currently, but will be using Tricare standard starting next month as my secondary. I have 2 1/2 years to go for Tricare For Life kicks in. Currently my only use of Tricare is for prescriptions. Who knows what will...

    Larger Brakes on Landmark?

When we ordered our Landmark we opted for the oversize brakes on our 7000 lb axles. When Lippert/Dexter/Heartland changed out our axles and replaced them with the 8000 lb axles, I made sure that the oversize brakes were included. They really stop a heavy fiver.

Rog, sounds like the right diagnosis. My neighbor has an 05 GMC dually and his did the same thing a few weeks ago. The shop replaced it and no problem now.

    Chalking

Are you asking about removing the factory applied caulk as it deteriorates? If so, a plastic putty knife helps. Some of mine is solvent based, so it can be cleaned up good with a little mineral spirits after the scraping. The rest was silicone, and scraping is the only thing that I know of. I...

Dino oil or Synthetic in motor?

I'm not sure why synthetic hasn't been around long enough to be proven--I've been using Amsoil in everything for 34 years, never had a problem with seals, and 34 years is a long time. Many expensive high performance engines and transmissions come with synthetic in them from the factory.

Care to share your average towing speed?

Re: Required reading We travel at 60-65 on limited access roads, depending on traffic and conditions, then a bit below the speed limit otherwise. I do make sure I don't back up traffic behind me, but these don't stop on a dime so I try to give myself a little extra margin.

How many have washer and dryer?

We have stacked units and really enjoy having them. Very easy to do a load while doing other chores or cooking, and not hving to go out in the heat, cold or rain to do a load of laundry nice.

    Extra 30 amp plug

Are you sure about the transfer switch being included in the generator prep package? I ordered the package, but have yet to see the transfer switch anywhere. Where would it be located? I had always assumed it included everything except the transfer switch since I have never located one.

A squirrel cost me 2 more tanks of propane!

This is in Tallahassee where we have the coach parked, but I guess this could happen anywhere the critters are, so it is advisable to periodically run your hands over the lines and check for chewing. There are also exposed lines in both tank compartments, as well as hydraulic lines exposed in...

A squirrel cost me 2 more tanks of propane!

Smelled gas the other day, and found the hose going to the range in the kitchen slideout had a big hole chewed through it. A couple months ago I noticed the propane smell and a squirrel had chewed through the hose going to my grill (ran from a "T" on the curbside tank), and I lost that tank of...

    Sewer smell

I've noticed the odor too, just can't understand why. There are traps between the sewer and the living area that should stop any odor from getting through. The only possibility I can come up with is that the sudden volume drain from the tanks pulls water out of the traps, allowing the gases to...

How many do their own warranty work?

I've been able to do all my own repairs and maintenance. I decided after my PDI that I would not likely ever be back at the dealer, especially considering it was a 250 mile round trip. After reading this forum for 5 or 6 months I knew more than the service department about potential problem...

not happy with 08 bighorn 3055rl

Owning an RV does require an ongoing maintenance program. All the little things that go wrong I just take care of myself, the coach has never been back to the dealer. To me it is a lot easier for me to do that than the hassle of hauling it back there. Like Tom, Bill, Randy and the rest...

    Winter Homes, Need Advice

We have our Landmark parked in Tallahassee, and the CG includes electricity in the $530 monthly rate. Nice well-managed park, but a little colder than where Rick Hansen is located. Still, both locations warm up somewhat during the daytime, so I guess you would call it a mild winter here.

Water Smokers, your experience & help would be appreciated

The Orion concept is interesting. I guess I have just never noticed it at BPS before. Tom, let us know how it turned out for you, also if you use wood chips how it turned out. The drawback to my Brinkman is that it is a warm weather cooker (if the ambient temp is too cool, the meat won't cook)...

Water Smokers, your experience & help would be appreciated

I use a Brinkman also. It is a stainless model that I bought from Cabella's 10-12 years ago. I have replaced the grates and rib racks more times than I can remember, Bass Pro Shops carries them. I have to add both water and charcoal about half way thru the ribs (I smoke them for about 6 hours)...

Flying J now charging $10 dump fee

I agree. I quit using them a couple years ago. They change the diesel filters so seldom that sometimes it takes forever to fill your tank. The pumps are out out receipt tape, or it doesn't work, and the card reader may work on the 4th or 5th swipe. I decided that I had better ways to spend my...

    Kitchen Faucet

Check your pex line connection at the faucet...turn of water at outside faucet, disconnect the line from the bottom of the faucet, have someone turn on the outside faucet while you have the pex line stuck in a bucket. If it works after several attempts I would then assume it is an internal...

    Latest Mod

Sounds like all that will keep you busy. As for the outlet, you could tap into the one in the basement and run the wire down and out underneath the floor. Mount the box on its side, facing out. I thought about doing the same thing, its on my list for the next mod.

Olevia TV from a few years back

I have tried a couple times on this trip to pick up a TV signal using the antenna, but no luck. Works fine on our satellite dish (which we use 95% of the time) and on cable. Good Sams/GMAC Insurance

Bill, I think that the premium will vary from state to state. Battery Overcharging

I've been running Napa Gold in several vehicles, and also my diesel forklift. The only one that has had a problem is my GMC, and the passenger side battery is always the one that dies. tires in bighorn how do you know if the tires are made in china

Mine were 14 ply G rated Chinese tires that blew, on an empty coach, and the tires were fully inflated---and did a lot of damage when they disintegrated. I will never own another Chinese trailer tire. These tires only had about 4K miles on them, and they were kept covered.

Kitchen Faucet Water Pressure....or Lack therof!

I had the same problem too, and tried everything to improve the flow. I just gave up and replaced the whole thing with a new American Standard faucet from Home Depot. Gail is so happy now! It has a pullout head, and is a lot taller. 3-4X the flow.
