    What do you suppose the purpose of the screws would be for left in this position?

    Maybe to hold down the carpet, that did not adhere very well??! Just a guess. I would take it out.

    Just took another look and there is one on the right also. Just weird.

    I believe they were not screwed all the way down. They screw the steps down through the carpet so there could be future access behind or under them.

    That looks like the plumbing raceway cover between the bedroom dresser and washing machine closet. The screws hold it in place.

    My Sundance had the same screws, they were to hold the steps down.

    For some reason, these screws seem to back out. Mine does the same thing from time to time.
