Break away switch

My ground came loose on my breakaway and it has melted itself. I need to buy a new one and can get one from Amazon for $11. Rip off world (camping world) has one for $20. Should I save money or not. What should I be looking for in a new switch.

They are all the same as far as I can tell. Had mine melt and was found by my RV shop. Only pulled out once when making a tight turn. Why would it melt for two to there minuets of putting the breaks on? Ok so this is new to me. Do you have to replace the switch any time the pin comes out? How do you check to see if it is still good?

No you do not. Mine must of had a defect and an internal short that caused it to heat up and start to melt. Had a tow dolly with our old class C, and never had a problem with the breakaway switch. I pulled and tested it every time before taking off on a new trip.

Sounds like I'm to late but the one from camping world has the coiled cable. That is a much better setup.

I put one of those coiled cables on mine last summer.
