Anyone that goes to AK should take the trolley tour in Anchorage to learn about their earthquake history. Damage/change in topography for that record earthquake is still visible

There were a couple of shakes in the Anchorage/Palmer area last year when we were there in 2017. Our thoughts and prayers are with these folks trying to deal with the aftermath.

Just talked with friends of ours who live in the Anchorage area. Their home in Eagle River area and their business downtown severely damage with some injuries as the roof of the business came crashing down.

When I was stationed on adak Alaska in the early 70s we had a 7.4 magnitude quake. Most of the buildings in the Aleutian Islands are made to withstand major earthquakes. I was one of only two people from California who had ever even felt an earthquake, so you can imagine people from around the country freaking out when their first earthquake experience was a 7.4.
