Why should I care about an RVIA certification?

I have seen a few manufacturers refer to limitations on design in order to get the RVIA seal. Why should I care if my RV has the seal or not?

Industry standards generally exist for your benefit and sometimes for your protection. Over time, as problems crop up and solutions are found, the improvements are incorporated into the standards. For example after some number of serious propane incidents on early RVs, RVIA standards started requiring that high pressure hoses or iron pipes be used when running propane across the RV under the living area.
