Bonjour,
Summer is finally here! If you are planning to travel to or through the Montreal area, please pay us a visit at our summer Home Base. It is a wonderful and quiet campground located in St-Charles sur Richelieu 30 minute away from the city. A great opportunity to get to know more about...
A great big MERCI BEAUCOUP to Bob and Christine and also to all Ontario Chapter members who made us feel so welcome! We enjoyed every moment of our stay and we wish to be able to return the favour in a not so distant future!

I ran 14000 miles on the Sailun S637 (G-rated LT) that came as original equipment on my 2011 BH 3585 and they still look prety good. I am likely to change for a new set of the same before our next extended trip.

I also had the same leak on my 2011 3585 and, yes, the water came from the small window by the door. The dealer fixed it during warranty and it has been dry since then.
It's -21C outside and timeto start thinking about our 2013 season as Heartland Owners. So farwe are 6 members of the Club's Quebec Chapter. Last year itwas proposed that we merge our Chapter with the Ontario Chapter tofacilitate joint activities due to larger membership base. I wouldlike to get...

Thanks for the tips. We do not intend to cross the rockies this year. We are however planning next year's roadtrip leaving Montreal to Vancouver, then down the Pacific coast to mid-California, then through Las Vegas and south across Arizona to the Rio Grande. We would spend winter time around...
We will be leaving on August 18 for a roundtrip from Montreal to the Rockies from Billings, Montana to Santa Fe and maybe White Sands, New Mexico. Driving eatwards through Elkhart, then Iowa and South Dakota. Driving westward along route 66 across Texas and Oklahoma. Planned duration: to late...

Will there be Quebec Heartland Owners attending the Montreal RV Show tomorrow? We'd love to meet you!
Last June we stayed at Lake Aire RV Park (Oak Plantation was full). Nice quiet park, well maintained, Passport America discount: $15.00/night at 50 amps. It is located 5 minutes away from Oak. http://lakeairerv.com/
Bonjour! (English translation below...)
I noticed that we have a new Forum Member from Quebec(and Heartland product owner). So here it is:
Bienvenue, Big40b et n'hésite pas à devenir le prochain membre du club!
For fellow members who do not read French: Welcome Big40b and do not hesitate to be our next HOC member!
From a power perspective you might not have a problem. However you will definitely be way over the maximum weight ratings therefore running a risk from a safety perspective, if not reliabilty. We pull our 2011 3585 with a Ford F350 2011 Crew Cab SRW short bed 4x2. The following weights from our...
Santa,
I've been a good Heartland fan and customer all year. I wish for Christmas to find recent pictures of Landmark and Big Horn on the Heartland website!
We had the same problem recently on our 2011 BH. The fault was a shorted wire somewhere between the thermostat and the main control within the AC unit control module. The dealer fixed it by using one of the unused wires (there are 3 0r 4 within the cable going to the thermostat). Worked well since.
We have a 2011 Crew Cab SRW short bed 4x2 with a 3.31 axle. We get around 12.5 mpg (towing). Never a problem keeping speed while climbing and always very stable. Weights from our latest public scales appearance (actual/max specs):
Truck front axle: 4576/5250
Truck rear axle: 6468/6730
Truck...
I agree with you. I was just making the point that a F350 SRW 4x4 might be overweight if it also had an auxiliary tank. The DRW puts you in another league. However there is no way my better half would drivt around town given the width of the thing. And she has a veto right...
It may be that I don't understand mathematics anymore... Here are actual weights for my 2011 F-350 Crew Cab SRW short bed 4x2 taken from my latest public scales appearance (actual/max specs):
Truck front axle: 4576/5250
Truck rear axle: 6468/6730
Truck total: 11044/11400
Pin weight: 3058...
Depends on State or Province regulations. Here in Quebec you will be fined $700 if overweight (the rig, not the driver... :)). And the insurance Claims Adjuster will definitely have a good time when investigating a claim... I know 'cause I used to be one of them!
Thanks for your responses. However I still believe that our Brand Managers should provide Forum members with some information and pictures at least as the show begins. I noticed, using the link that Jim suggested, that some manufacturers (Redwood, Infinity and others) do release information a...
We have a BH3585, very similar weights to the Key Largo. Also a 2011 F-350 SRW diesel. I would not go to the gas version based on fuel prices because the gas engine fuel consumption would be horrendous (it comes with a 4.30 axle instead of 3.30 for diesel) and the maximum trailer weight is rated...
November 29 is the opening of the National RV Show where most manufacturers present their new stuff. It is not open to the public. Would the Heartland Product Managers be nice enough to show us, on this Forum, the new stuff they will introduce? It would be nice to see which of the ideas they...
Re: Need some advise on a tow vehicle
One major concern about Maximum Weights should be liability in case of accident. Insurance claims adjusters have an easy job blaming you when you run overload (or presumed overload) into an accident. Again, here are the facts: my2011 F-350 CrewCab Diesel...
Re: Need some advise on a tow vehicle
Problem may be that you lose 400lbs towing capacity with 4x4. If you wish to use your truck for winter driving it may be worth the sacrifice, otherwise I don't see the value. You will sacrifice fuel mileage every day carrying the 400+lbs of transfer case...
Re: Need some advise on a tow vehicle
Our 2011 F350 Lariat crew cab/short bed SRW Diesel does a very good job towing a BH3585. We took delivery last May and we travelled over 8000 miles from Montreal to Key West, and from Montreal around the Maritimes and Maine. It proved very stable on the...
We got ours last May. We did 8000 miles and 26 campgrounds so far. The 2011 F350 Lariat crew cab/short bed SRW Diesel does a very good job and proved very stable on the road. Be aware of the weights: Our combined weight with about 20 gallons of water and a full fuel tank was 22462 vs an...
The most spectacular campground is Campfire Lodgings http://www.campfirelodgings.com/rvcamp.asp It is worth getting into a Premium site, they have concrete pads, lots of room and awesome views of the French Broad river. Here is a picture of our setup last May and a view from our living...
I guess that they did the 3.31 for Canada while the canadian dollar was worth $1.05US... The lower gear ratio saved us some fuel as we were paying the equivalent of $5/US Gallons... :p
Facts: We have the 2011 F-350 SRW diesel with the standard 3.31. Plenty of power available when we traveled around the Adirondacks or on Cape Breton (you ought to try that one!). Tremendous fuel maiden voyage; the Cape Breton trip averaged 12.4...). The weights taken at the public scales are as...
Question for the Landmark Manager: where do you stand with all the suggestions and comments generated by your request. Will there be something new soon?
Meanwhile I just saw the new Redwood BR, the one with a bonus room at the rear. Now that is a good idea for full-timing: this can be a useful...
Our BH3585 has Dexter axles and brakes. Early in our maiden trip the brakes started failing. When the dealer removed the wheels he found 3 wheels that had bearing seals letting go grease in the drums. Dexter rejected the claim (accepted only the cost for the seals witout labor). After the repair...
